The Philadelphia Eagles officially report to training camp on July 28th and are nearing the start of another season. The decisions that have to be made in the lead up to week one are still extremely important for the overall outlook of the team.

Some players will be cut, some players will be traded, and some players on the roster bubble will shock the fanbase and earn themselves a spot on the Eagles’ 53-man roster.

With training camp almost underway, these are the players most likely to make the Philadelphia Eagles’ initial 53-man roster entering the 2026 NFL season. Injuries, preseason performances, and trades could change these projections, but this is how the roster looks entering camp.

Quarterbacks

(3) Jalen Hurts, Andy Dalton, Cole Payton

The Eagles QB room is almost certainly going to look like this week one. Tanner McKee is expected to be traded by the start of the regular season. Dalton will be Hurts’ primary backup, and Payton, Philadelphia’s fifth-round pick, will serve as the third QB.

Running Backs

(4) Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley, Elijah Mitchell

The battle for a spot on the Eagles’ 53-man roster starts with Will Shipley. He has the advantage, but some tough decisions will have to be made when it comes to letting players go. Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele are both left off the roster in this projection, two solid NFL backs. Mitchell is a true wildcard; if he can regain some of that success he had a few years ago, he can force Philadelphia to keep four running backs on the roster.

Wide Receivers

(5) Devonta Smith, Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks, Hollywood Brown, Johnny Wilson

Hollywood Brown should comfortably be on the roster at the number four receiver; however, it wouldn’t be surprising if he became a trade candidate. The Eagles loaded up on receiver depth after the AJ Brown trade, and Hollywood is now the WR4.

Johnny Wilson should beat out Darius Cooper and Britain Covey for the fifth spot on the roster due to his blocking. His impact is much greater than what the box score will show.

Covey won’t be needed as long as they keep Shipley and/or Pierce on the roster to handle returns.

Tight Ends

(3) Dallas Goedert, Eli Stowers, Johnny Mundt

The Eagles should be able to comfortably roster three tight ends this season. They have a true blocker in Mundt, as well as Stowers, their second-round pick, to back up Goedert.

Cameron Latu, EJ Jenkins, and Dae’Quon Wright could all find their way back onto the practice squad and be elevated for select games.

Offensive Line

(10) Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson, Fred Johnson, Markel Bell, Micah Morris, Drew Kendall, Myles Hinton

The bottom of this list will change so many times before the end of the preseason, but this is where we land right now. Morris is a rookie who should have a strong camp. Hinton is being tried out as a guard, so his versatility of being able to switch off of tackle could come into play.

Michael Jordan (G), Cam Williams (T), Willie Lampkin (G), and Hollin Pierce (G) were the players left off who have a true shot of making the Eagles’ 53-man roster.

Defensive Tackles

(6) Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Ty Robinson, Byron Young, Uar Bernard

The defensive tackle group is the strongest position depth-wise on the entire roster. This does not bode well for Robinson, Philadelphia’s third-round pick last season. He did not have a good rookie year by any means, and he may be traded if they don’t hold six DT’s on the roster.

EDGE

(5) Jonathan Greenard, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith Jr., Arnold Ebiketie, AJ Epenesa

The EDGE rotation is much improved from this time last year. They have solid depth and a mix of veterans and young players. Brandon Graham is missing from this group as he has not committed to playing next season. He could be an addition made later to these roster projections if he makes a decision.

Linebackers

(4) Zack Baun, Jihaad Campbell, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Smael Mondon Jr.

These four linebackers are guaranteed to be on the roster come week one. The only catch is whether or not Deontae Lawson, an undrafted free agent from Alabama, can make his way onto the opening team.

Cornerbacks

(6) Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper Dejean, Tariq Woolen, Jonathan Jones, Kelee Ringo, Kapena Gushiken

Another position group with much improved depth from last season. Jones will be the primary backup on the outside, while Ringo likely sticks around for his special teams prowess.

Kapena Gushiken is an awesome athlete who the Eagles gave the most guaranteed money out of all their UDFA signings. They are trying him out at safety through camp. That versatility will make him more valuable as he pushes to make the roster.

Safeties

(4) Andrew Mukuba, Michael Carter II, Marcus Epps, Cole Wisniewski

The safeties are absolutely the weakest group on the roster. Realistically, Mukuba is the only one locked into a roster spot after preseason. Everyone else is unproven and will have to earn a spot in camp. A name to watch in this battle is Maximus Pulley, a UDFA signing who has great ball skills. He could make an impact through the preseason process.

Special Teams

Jake Elliott (K), Braden Mann (P), Rocco Underwood (LS)

Special teams brings no competition into training camp, and the three positions are locked up for the most part. Rocco Underwood is the only long snapper on the roster, so the job should be his.

End Of My Philadelphia Eagles 53-Man Roster Projection Rant

The Eagles will be entering next season with some of the best depth they’ve had throughout this entire run. The issue with that is that it comes with tough decisions that need to be made before playing a single regular season game. Some veteran players will be left off the 53-man roster because there just isn’t enough room for so much talent.
