Vita Vea has officially requested a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The longtime DT has proven to be one of the best run-stuffers in the entire NFL. The trade request stems from multiple failed negotiations in contract talks.

The Chicago Bears have been in the hunt for that impact defensive player all offseason. They never really got it done, but Vea could change that at the last minute.
Chicago had a very poor rushing defense last season and have made efforts to try and improve that entering 2026. Vea would be a perfect fit; the Bears need to be aggressive to make a move here.
The New York Giants are a very interesting team to watch in this spot. They have a need at DT after trading away Dexter Lawrence, but would they spend assets on Vita Vea?
The answer should be yes. New York has made strides towards improving on the defensive side of the ball, and Vea could complete that puzzle. A trade could involve Kayvon Thibodeaux, who has been involved in NFL trade rumors all offseason.
The market for Vea will begin to take shape after this news of a trade request settles. The two teams that stick out the most right away have to be the Giants and the Bears.
Those two teams are looking to be competitive as young teams. Adding a player like Vea would give them an identity on the defensive side of the ball.
Vea is owed $18 million next season on his current contract. A new deal will likely be expected if he is traded this offseason.
