Falcons Find Their Head Coach And It's Not Belichick
The Atlanta Falcons have been one of the names in the NFL news lately during this exciting coaching cycle. Linked to legendary head coach Bill Belichick, the Falcons have decided to not go that route and instead take storm with a familiar face.
The club announced it has hired former interim coach and Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. The 47-year-old was the team's defensive coordinator in 2020.

Raheem Morris Familiar With Falcons
Morris is no stranger to the Falcons organization. He was hired in 2015 as the team's assistant head coach and was called up to head coach when Dan Quinn was fired in 2020. He finished 4-7 in his second opportunity as a head coach. His previous stint was a couple of years in Tampa Bay, where he was fired in 2011 after a 4-12 season.
With big shoes to fill after Brandon Staley's departure, Morris was hired by the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, where his defense was one of the best in the league. That defense was key to the team's Super Bowl victory in 2022. The Falcons hope that he can build up their really good defense to be top-five in the league.
A Second Chance In The NFL
While Morris has won four or less games in 3/4 seasons as head coach, he did have a 10-6 season in 2010. Unfortunately, the team missed the postseason. His defense was really good only allowing 19.8 points per game with nine games holding the opposing team to under 17 points as well as one shutout.
Will this be a good hire for Atlanta? Only time will tell. But Morris hopes that the Falcons' D can be one of the best in the NFL. But what will happen to the struggling offense? Answers will be given soon. What do you think?
