These WWE Raw results are from the special 6:00 p.m. Eastern episode at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. Raw this week teased the results of “La Primera” Stephanie Vaquer vs. “The Prodigy” Roxanne Perez, Big Cass vs. Je’Von Evans, the Oba Femi and Bron Breakker contract signing, and the fallout of The Bloodline story.
Fenix and Penta advance, a new faction emerges, and the Bloodline storyline takes another turn.
After getting the better of WWE World Heavyweight Champion “The OTC” Roman Reigns alongside Solo Sikoa last week, “The Megastar” LA Knight kicked off the show with an in-ring promo. Sikoa joined him, and they made fun of The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) until the comical segment was interrupted by Jimmy and Jey. The result: a tag match announced for later in the evening.
It was time for Vaquer vs. Perez, with Judgment Day (WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez). Neither woman did her best work, with multiple slow, choppy segments. The strikes and slams were awkwardly soft and quiet, leading to the finish.
Vaquer had the win lined up, but was pushed off the top rope by Morgan when “The Man” Becky Lynch showed up. Perez took the pinfall loss to La Primera, and Lynch had a brief face-to-face with the victor, both with the same goal of taking the WWE Women’s World Championship.
AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix had a semifinal match in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship number one contender tournament against Dragon Lee. For those unfamiliar, this is an eight-luchador contest to determine Reigns’ opponent for Raw’s upcoming stop in Mexico City.
This match had great pace, reversals, and high spots, without losing too much physicality or believability. The combination of move-sets and reversals was also awe-inspiring. The false finishes help make this the match of the night, even without seeing the rest of the show. An eventual Mexican Muscle Buster picked up the pinfall victory for Fenix.
The contract signing between Femi and Breakker for WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event arrived, as general manager Adam Pearce and Paul Heyman called them to the ring. After he signed the contract, Breakker got heated with Heyman, claiming he doesn’t have his best interest in mind.
Breakker attacked Femi, and his tag partner, Austin Theory, joined him. The numbers advantage, however, wasn’t enough, as The Ruler broke a table on the way to ending the segment on top.
The match between Evans and Cass was next, and went as expected. The Young OG hit his gimmick high spots, but the big man was too strong, often catching him in mid-air.
Cass picked up the pinfall victory, and was out of there. After his loss, Evans was jumped by Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh) to end the segment.
Penta and La Parka wrapped up the semifinals in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship number one contender tournament. This one had plenty of high-spots as well, but was much more of a slow, methodical matchup. His brother, Fenix, won earlier with a Mexican Muscle Buster, and Penta, advanced to face him in the finals with a Mexican Destroyer. They’ll face off next week to determine the number one contender.
The Knight and Sikoa vs. The Usos match followed. It was a standard sport-entertainment match until Royce Keys and the debuting OTM (Bronco and Lucien) made a statement, taking out everybody in sight. Keys was on fire, hitting three guys in the skull with the steel ring stairs, before Jimmy was powerbombed through the announce table.
WWE Raw this week delivered a new faction involved in The Bloodline storyline and a big contract signing for WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event. It also confirmed Fenix vs. Penta in the finals of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship number one contender tournament.
