WWE Raw got its turn hosting Money in the Bank qualifiers Monday night. The qualifiers focused on the women’s division that evening, featuring two triple-threat matches. Who booked their ticket to the ladder match from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville?
The first qualifying match for Raw was a triple-threat between Becky Lynch, Natalya, and Roxanne Perez. The extra person was underutilized, with one-on-ones after the third woman powdered out of the ring. They also looked weak and sloppy, with no believable strikes between them.
Lynch set up for what seemed like the finish, but her recent rival, Lyra Valkyria, ensured she didn’t get a spot for the Money in the Bank match. Perez ultimately secured the pinfall victory on Natalya, joining SmackDown qualifier Alexa Bliss. ‘The Man’ seems to continue her storyline with the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Valkyra, while Natalya has been a jobber for years. The recent NXT call-up has a shot, if WWE chooses to push a new talent.
The second Money in the Bank qualifier featured Rhea Ripley, Zoey Stark, and the returning Kairi Sane. Stark shoot injured her knee while executing a drop kick from the top rope early. The match became an unplanned one-on-one between naked Marilyn Manson and the pirate.
The remainder of the match was lacklustre, but it’s hard to blame them after Stark’s unexpected injury. Riply hit a Riptide to win the match and earn the third spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match. If WWE wants to give it to a proven athlete, she has an outside shot, but it’s typically to push a new talent that has yet to see the spotlight.
It’s hard to imagine Stark had a chance in her match, but it certainly tested her opponent’s ability to adjust on the fly. Perez would be the favorite to climb the ladder and grab the briefcase thus far, but there’s plenty of time to go. Raw gets its men’s division started next week from Tampa, Florida.
