On Monday Night Raw, the final contenders for the four way women’s tag team match at Evolution 2025 were revealed. The winners will be crowned the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
WWE has faced criticism for neglecting the Women’s Tag Team division; there are not many long lasting duos and the booking is inconsistent at best. This Evolution 2025 match has thankfully managed to put together a stacked roster of talent for this title challenge, putting the Women’s Tag Team division back in the spotlight for the first time this year.
Each of the teams set to perform at Evolution 2025 brings talent and star power to the stage, making it difficult to know who will bring home the belt.
Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodrigez
Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodrigez have been the champions since February, and are one of the most dominant duos in the division. They have held it four times, more than any other women’s tag team.
Their current reign, however, has been uneventful. For half the year, Morgan was in Japan filming a movie, making her unavailable for banter or title defenses. This was a large factor in the division’s current stagnation. When she returned in June, she was injured in her first match back in the ring. The current understanding is that she will not be able to return until next year.
In her absence, rather than leave the Women’s Tag Team Championship in limbo for another six months, the WWE has elevated another member of Morgan’s heel faction, The Judgement Day, to take her place. The rising star Roxanne Perez, will be Raquel’s new tag team partner, and the new champion. Raquel has more than earned her title, this is her sixth time holding it, but Perez only has it because of her place on The Judgement Day.
The match at Evolution 2025 will be the chance for this new duo to prove that they deserve this title even without Morgan. If they lost, Perez would be a champion in name only.
A successful title defense would be a much needed victory for Perez, who has recently suffered a number of singles losses, and would set up tension between her and Morgan when the injured star finally returns to WWE. With multiple high profile talents between them and victory, and WWE fans restless for change in the Women’s Tag Team title, this team faces an uphill climb toward victory.
Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair
The first challengers announced for the Evolution 2025 match were Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, a new tag team that formed last Friday on SmackDown. They will be the representatives from SmackDown for this title bout. The two are both popular and successful wrestlers in their own right.
Bliss was the first two time Women’s Tag Team champion, winning in 2020 and 2022, winning once with Nikki Cross and once with Asuka. Flair has won the Women’s Tag Team championship once, also winning with Asuka. Both wrestlers have storied careers, winning multiple belts. Among her compliments, Flair won Royal Rumble 2025 by eliminating Perez, which could cause tension between them when they enter the ring together.

The two make an unexpected pair. With Bliss being a baby face and Flair a heel, Their in the ring chemistry has been outstanding, creating memorable moments such as Flair accidentally tagging Bliss in by patting her head in the match they won to get to Evolution 2025.
The new tag team has been popular with fans, but there are questions about why they have teamed up in the WWE storyline. Wrestling veteran Vince Russo said, “…there’s no story here. Alexa Bliss, there has been no explanation of why she’s saddling up Flair.” Without an in story explanation for their partnership, it comes across like WWE shoving together two of their most popular faces.
These two are the favorites to win at Evolution 2025; they have the most individual star power of any of the teams and their victory would bring welcome change to the WWE Women’s Tag Team title. This is the team to put money on.
Sol Ruca & Zaria
Sol Ruca and Zaria will be representing NXT. The two have been a formidable duo, winning the WWE Women’s Speed Championship and the NXT Women’s North American Championship since they first teamed up in December of last year.
They have won over fans of NXT with their charming chemistry. Ruca’s exuberant excitement contrasted with Zaria’s silent anger has made them entertaining to watch both in the ring and outside it. Their rising stardom in NXT has them on the road to becoming big talents on WWE’s main roster. Evolution 2025 will only be the latest main stage appearance for Ruca, who WWE seems to be preparing for her moment in the spotlight.
They are the least likely team to win the belt. It would be unusual to have a tag team WWE’s training division holding a main roster belt, and it would be difficult for them to defend it. The pair also lost their last match together, and so having them beat multiple veteran wrestlers only a week later would be a shocking upset.
Simply being included in this match is a big deal for these two. With all the eyes that Evolution 2025 will bring, they will have the chance to sell themselves to the wider WWE audience. This match could be the push they need to be called up to perform on the main roster sooner rather than later.
Kairi Sane & Asuka
On Monday, Kairi Sane’s match versus Perez ended with an unexpected pin by Sane. Perez was in the midst of her own signature attack, Pop Rocks, when Sane managed to counter and pin her for a three count.
Rodrigez, jumped into the ring to deliver a kick to her back. Perez and Rodrigez ganged up on Sane, pushing her to the ground and assailing her with a storm of fists and boots. If they could not beat her in the ring, they could at least make certain she never challenged them in it again.
Then Asuka’s theme rang out through the arena.
She flew into the arena, leaping under the ropes, and fended off Perez and Rodrigez to give Sane a moment to recover. Together, they fought off the champions together. With that, the two time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, The Kabuki Warriors, were finally reunited. With a promo after the match, they were announced to be the last team competing for the Women’s Tag Team title at Evolution 2025, representing WWE Raw
The Kabuki Warriors are a historic duo. They team was first formed in 2019, and are two time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, winning the titles in 2019 and 2024. They also hold the record for the longest reign as champions, at 180 days.
After Perez and Rodgrigez’s attack on Sane, The Kabuki Warriors will be hungry for revenge when they see them in the ring at Evolution 2025. This will be a chance at a third title, putting them one step closer to Morgan and Rodrigez’s record should they win.
The Kabuki Warriors have more experience as a team than any other pair in this Evolution 2025 match, and are a popular duo. With Asuka missing her chance at the Women’s World Championship due to a recent loss in the Queen of the Ring tournament, the Women’s Tag Team reign would be a excellent way for WWE to put her talents to use.
A title reign for The Kabuki Warriors, unfortunately, might not be what the WWE thinks it needs to revive the Women’s Tag Team division. They have already proven they can win, and will not bring the buzz of a new championship duo. They have a decent chance at taking home the belt, but they might get passed over for a newer tag team.
End Of My Evolution 2025 Rant
At Evolution 2025, all these wrestlers have a chance at the WWE Women’s Tag Team championship.
The most likely outcome is a Bliss and Flair victory, putting two star talents at the face of the Women’s Tag Team division to push it back into the limelight. Though the WWE has not done much to develop their narrative, the in-ring storytelling that the pair has managed to pull off in the few matches they have had has been excellent. There is also plenty of time for their storyline to be developed further should they win the belt.
Morgan and Rodrigez or Sane and Asuka are the next in line. The former sets up the most future drama while the latter has the most pedigree as a duo. Sane and Asuka might be slightly more likely because of the buzz the title changing hands would bring, but either could reasonably win at Evolution 2025. A Ruca and Zaria victory seems far fetched, but the excitement such a dramatic upset would bring makes it possible, at the very least.
Each of these women brings new hope to the Women’s Tag Team division, with even the duo defending the title having a fresh face on the team. No matter the outcome, at Evolution 2025 the WWE is going to see a new face as its Women’s Tag Team championship.
