WWE Night of Champions wrapped up Saturday Night. On the card were the finals from the Queen of the Ring tournament. Would the company award one of the greatest female stars of all time, or did they take a trip to the 80s and give it to the oversized juggernaut?

WWE Queen Of The Ring

In the Queen of the Ring Finals, Jade Cargill had the biggest match of her career against Asuka, and the winner became the number one contender. The Empress of Tomorrow was showing off slick reversals and ensuring she helped her foe with the spots. The crowd had no pop for the green superstar, even after power moves like a powerbomb or a big boot. Cargill’s moveset is limited to reversals that catch people, with no notable mat talent or wrestling skills. She’s the perfect example of a sports entertainer.

There is no denying the superstar appearance of Cargill. Easily the most ripped superstar in the division, and with the enthralling entrance, it’s easy to see the initial appeal. After that, there is nothing to look forward to when watching one of her matches. One of her superpowers certainly isn’t agility or ring IQ.

WWE Botched Booking

As predicted, instead of awarding the world-renowned, future Hall of Famer, WWE went all-in on Cargill. She has had enough time at the table, and the company is playing on tilt. The Queen of the Ring should be able to call matches and work the mat. At Night of Champions, Asuka was the entertainment, doing her opponent a favor by putting her over this early in her career, which isn’t living up to the hype.

The Queen of the Ring should mean more than pushing a shiny new toy. They should award underrated talents, not push muscleheads with no clue about wrestling. Cargill is lucky to share a ring with such a legend, but she now has to carry the weight of the crown. In wrestling, titles don’t make wrestlers get over; they write the legacy that makes it great.

End Of My WWE Rant

The storm is near, alright, and it’s the mess from booking decisions that put her in situations where she doesn’t belong. Cargill had no business in the ring with Asuka and has none in a championship match with Iyo Sky. The thought of her pinning both stars is a slap in the face to actual talent.
