Seth Rollins is having yet another career run in 2025. Back at WrestleMania 41 in April, he pulled off a masterful heel turn by having Paul Heyman betray CM Punk and Roman Reigns and align with him.
It came just over a decade after the “Heist of the Century”, Rollins’ successful Money in the Bank briefcase cash-in during the main event of WrestleMania 31. Now, he holds it again, and with a powerhouse tandem of Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker by his side, he may repeat history.
On the same night that Heyman shockingly sided with Rollins, Jey Uso finally defeated GUNTHER to win the World Heavyweight Championship. It was a moment of triumphant vindication for the former tag specialist, who had risen above his cousin’s abuses to become the hottest act in all of WWE.
There has, however, been much backlash towards Uso’s push, and it was seemingly vindicated when GUNTHER regained the title on last week’s episode of Raw. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was primarily a business decision from Triple H.
Next month’s edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event will purportedly feature Goldberg’s retirement match, and WWE wants it to be for a title to counter-program AEW All In. Thus, in the company’s eyes, a fellow wrestling monster like GUNTHER will bring more credibility to what is expected to be a poignant event.
GUNTHER should be expected to retain, because there is no way Goldberg is retiring with the title, as John Cena is threatening to do. After that, however, what is next?
On Monday’s episode of Raw, Uso won a King of the Ring first-round match to book a semifinal clash with Cody Rhodes. With that said, imagine the scenario.
Uso ultimately wins the tournament and sees himself standing across the ring from his archrival at SummerSlam. Once again, it is the no-nonsense technician against a master of hype and charisma clashing for the ultimate prize…
…at least unless a certain Visionary runs down the ramp, green briefcase in hand.
This time, it is different. Rollins is not alone. He has an army with him, and they destroy both men, allowing him to claim the title without a struggle.
WWE has something special in Rollins’ current faction. Roman Reigns, his longtime archenemy, once had an all-conquering stable of his own in the Bloodline, which instilled terror for the better part of two years. Already, one can salivate at the prospect of the Tribal Chief calling the band back together to fight this new tyrannical supergroup.
All the better if it is for the World Heavyweight Championship. It is two titans going at it with much at stake, one party looking to finally defeat the other fair and square. Still, all things start somewhere, and for Rollins, this journey towards repeating history began on the night of June 7th, 2025.
