Trea Turner, shortstop of the Philadelphia Phillies, provides so much value to his team year in and year out. He is currently in his third season with the Phillies and he is hoping to help them make a deep playoff run.
Trea Turner has not had quite the start to the 2025 MLB season that he was hoping for, but he will likely turn that around soon. He is not near the top of the league in statistical categories like he usually is, but there are signs that he will change that in the near future. In particular, he went four-for-four in his last game against his former team, the Washington Nationals. This increased his batting average from .262 to .290, which is a great indication that he is starting to get more dialed in at the plate.
Turner is currently on a five-game hit streak as well, which is another sign that good things are to come. Look for him to use this recent positive momentum to carry him to more success.
The value that Trea Turner brings to a team is rather impressive. He has won a batting title, a Silver Slugger Award, and he’s a three-time All-Star; he also won the 2019 World Series with the Nationals. Additionally, his career batting average is .296, which is fourth among active MLB players. He has also hit for the cycle three times, which ties him for the most cycles by a player in MLB history. These stats and accolades show that he is one of the most reliable players in the league.
Trea Turner is one of the fastest players in the MLB, too. He stole 30 bases in a row without getting caught in the 2023 season, which is an all-time MLB record. In his ten seasons in the league, he has stolen 30 or more bases in five of those seasons, and he is on pace to achieve that again this season. With 285 career stolen bases, he is ranked third among active players. He recently showed off his wheels against the Chicago Cubs when he beat out an infield single in extra innings.
Trea Turner may not be having the perfect start to the 2025 season, but he is going to find his way. He knows how to navigate his way at the plate and his defense always takes care of itself. He is one of the most consistent players in the MLB and he always finds his way through slumps. Also, once he gets going, he is able to keep that positive momentum going for extended periods. Don’t be surprised if Turner is able to turn things around and have another All-Star season.
Although Trea Turner hasn’t been playing up to par this year, he is looking to turn that around soon. Expect him to return to the top of the statistical rankings as he tries to propel the Phillies to another deep playoff run this season.
