Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is one of the top players in the MLB. He has been ranked at the top of the league for the majority of his 10-year career and he is hoping to do the same this season.
Seager has racked up many accolades throughout his career. He is a two-time World Series champion, a five-time All-Star, a three-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and a two-time World Series MVP. Toss in an NLCS MVP title and a former Rookie of the Year. From a statistics standpoint, he has a .290 career batting average, which ranks him seventh among active players in the MLB. He also has a .360 career OBP, which ranks him 20th among active players. Additionally, his .511 slugging percentage ranks 12th among active players, and his .871 OPS ranks 10th among active players.
If Seager keeps up this level of play, then he has the potential to be a future Hall of Famer.
Seager is one of the most clutch players in the league. This is something that separates him from his competition. His ability to perform when the stakes are the highest is second to none. Some players are unable to step up their game during high pressure moments like the playoffs, but Seager thrives in those situations and turns his level of play up a notch.
In Seager’s three World Series appearances, he has a .294 batting average, a .402 OBP, 20 hits, six home runs, 15 RBIs, and 17 runs. Those are the types of numbers that legends in the sport put up.
Seager is currently on the 10-day IL with a right hamstring strain, but he will be looking to get back on the field as quickly as possible. Prior to suffering the injury, Seager was having a strong start to the 2025 season. His batting average was .286 and his OBP was .345, hovering right around his career averages. It is this type of consistency that has cemented him as one of the top players in the league over the last decade.
He has been named an All-Star in each of the past three seasons and there is no reason that he shouldn’t do the same this year. At 31 years old, Seager is still considered in his prime, so expect him to continue being a superstar in the league.
The Rangers are having an average start to the season. They are currently tied for second place in the AL West standings, only two games back of the first place Seattle Mariners. The Rangers have a strong team, however, so once Seager returns they could easily take over that first place spot.
The last time they appeared in the playoffs was in 2023, when they were a wild card team and went on to win their first World Series championship in franchise history.
Seager has proven over the last decade that he is one of the best players in the entire MLB. With two World Series titles to his name already, he will be looking to earn another one once he returns to the field.
