The Cleveland Guardians 2026 season has gotten off to a solid start. What’s been the recipe for success is the the youth on this roster finally living up to the hype. Combing that with the star presence of Jose Ramirez gives you a solid lineup to compete for the AL Central a third consecutive season. Similar to the lineup, the pitching has held its own. Here are some of the most impressive players 25 games into the season.

1. Brayan Rocchio

2026 Stats: .269 AVG, 3 HR, 15RBI, .790 OPS

What we’ve seen from Brayan Rocchio in 2026, is the complete opposite of the player he used to be. The bat is finally consistent, and his versatility on defense has been a major factor for the Guardians success. At still only 25 years old, he looks to be a major contributor for the foreseeable future in the infield.

Power isn’t usually something Rocchio offers, but this season he’s slugging at an impressive rate. Currently, he is occupying the #9 spot in the lineup and the rest of the lineup has benefited. Getting on base for the top of the lineup has worked well for Cleveland’s offense this year.

An interesting dynamic will be when top prospect Travis Bazzana is ready to debut, where they decide to play Rocchio. Currently, he floats back and forth between SS and 2B, but when Bazzana is ready and Arias returns, Cleveland’s infield will get crowded.

Nonetheless, Brayan Rocchio has gotten off to a great start in 2026, and will hopefully continue to have career season.

2. Austin Hedges

2026 Stats: .267 AVG, 0 HR, 2 RBI, .636 OPS

Looking at Hedge’s numbers, you would probably be confused why he is on this list. At the plate, he has looked much more comfortable than past seasons. Behind the plate, he is one of the best in the business calling games and blocking wild pitches. When you think of a locker room guy, the first person you think of on this roster is Austin Hedges. As a backup catcher, he has done a great job of leading and teaching the youth on this roster.

In his 10 year career, you’ve never been blown away from the numbers he puts up, but you admire him for the way he’s treated in the clubhouse. The bar was pretty low offensively, but this season it feels like he can produce when he’s asked upon.

In 2026, Austin Hedges is not surprising anyone with his leadership, but his statistical better numbers on the field.

3. Daniel Schneemann

2026 Stats: .310 AVG, 2 HR, 11 RBI, .911 OPS

One of the many bright spots for the Guardians offense has been Daniel Schneemann. The super utility player has been played practically everywhere on the field and put up elite offensive production. Guardians fans have loved watching Schneenman the past couple years, but this season the bat is really figured out.

A player every team in baseball would love to have, and is elite at essentially every position on defense. The lefty is hitting over .300 on the young season, but whats been most impressive is his power. Obviously, only two home runs, but six doubles, and a .528 slugging percentage tell the full story.

Not sure anybody is wildly surprised with the season Schneemann is having so far, but playing everyday was a challenge in 2025. Now, whoever is getting a rest in the field, opens up a spot for him to produce in the lineup and in the field.

4. Joey Cantillo

2026 Stats: 25.1 IP, 3.20 ERA, 1.30 WHIP

Coming into this season, Joey Cantillo was the guy in the rotation with the most questions to answer. Now, he is one of the most consistent and reliable pitchers on the roster. His off speed pitches have been nasty this season. The curveball and slider have been his bread and butter striking batters out left and right.

Cantillo isn’t a velocity pitcher, meaning he won’t win with his fastball. What’s worked this season has been his changeup that needed work. Combing that with his elite off speed pitches (slider and curveball) you finally have the mold of a quality rotation piece.

Cantillo along with Messick have been great left handed options for Cleveland’s pitching staff this season.

5. Angel Martinez

2026 Stats: .271 AVG, 3 HR, 10 RBI, .777 OPS

Similar to Daniel Schneemann, Angel Martinez is a utility player that has made a huge impact this season. Now residing in the outfield, Martinez has found a new home playing next to Steven Kwan and Chase DeLauter. Every time Martinez is in the lineup, he will be giving 110% effort no matter what the task is. His speed has not only benefited his offense but has helped him make plays in the outfield.

An extra base hit machine, who has cooled off of late, but had a stretch where he was hitting at the top of the league. This kid also has the trait of toughness, has been multiple times already this season, and never wants to come out of the game. This past series versus the Orioles, he showed off the glove making game winning plays in left field.

The future is bright for Angel Martinez with his complex skillset and electric play style he shows on the field.

End Of My Guardians Rant

Much of baseball has put an emphasis on the Guardians not being close to contending. The way the season has gone so far, that statement would be very untrue. This list features many young players developing into good major league players elevating the ceiling of this roster. This article also only features five players, there are plenty of players having solid starts to their 2026 seasons. Some of those names include Chase DeLauter, Parker Messick, Rhys Hoskins, and Erik Sabrowski. Keep an eye on this Cleveland club come September with their influx of talent on this young roster.
