Jose Ramírez, the long-time third baseman for the Cleveland Guardians, has been quite the consistent player over the years. He has played for the Guardians (formerly the Indians) for his entire MLB career since 2013.
Jose Ramírez Numbers
Ramírez had a solid start to his career, hitting .333 in his first 15 games in 2013; he also had a .429 OBP during this time and a .500 slugging percentage. He continued his success at the plate in 2014 with a .262 BA and .300 OBP before getting injured and having his season cut short.
The following season was rough for Ramírez as his BA went down to .219. Aside from that season, he has been one of the most consistently productive players in the entire league. He is in his 13th season in the big leagues and his career BA is .279, which ranks him 27th among active MLB players. Additionally, his career OBP is .352, which is ranked 25th and his .503 career slugging percentage is ranked 16th; his .854 career OPS is ranked 16th as well.

Accolades
Ramírez’ accolades speak for themselves. He has been a six-time All-Star and a five-time Silver Slugger Award winner, while making it to the postseason six times in his career. He has not had the postseason success that he has hoped for, but he is looking to change that this year.
The 2025 Season
At 32 years old, Ramírez is still producing at a high level. This season he has a .271 BA, .333 OBP, .442 slugging percentage, and .775 OPS, all of which are above MLB averages. While these numbers are not flashy, they still get the job done. That is the type of player that Ramírez has been his whole career. He is reliable and finds a way to contribute however he can.
How The Guardians Are Doing
The Guardians are having a good start to the 2025 MLB season. Their current record is 22-15, putting them only one game back of first place in the American League (AL) Central Division; the only team ahead of them is the Detroit Tigers.
They are hoping to make a deeper playoff run this year than they have previously. The Guardians have a tendency to make the playoffs but then get knocked out before winning the World Series. Last season, they won the AL Division Series (ALDS) against the Tigers, but then lost to the New York Yankees in the AL Championship Series (ALCS) in five games. In 2022, they lost to the Yankees in the ALDS in five games and in 2020 they lost to the Yankees in the AL Wild Card Series.
Another notable loss is when they lost the World Series in seven games against the Chicago Cubs in 2016. They were up three games to one but the Cubs came back and stole the series from them. That has been Ramirez’ only World Series appearance and he hopes to change that this season.
End Of My Jose Ramírez Rant
The Guardians are looking to change their recent poor playoff history this season. With the help of the consistent Ramírez, they have a legitimate shot at making a deep playoff run.
