Brooks Raley

Brooks Raley is as good as gone after the August 3rd MLB trade deadline. He is a free agent after this season, and there’s almost no chance he’s back in New York. Trading him for assets is the smart thing to do.

Raley is a lefty with very good stats in a late-inning role. He has a 2.09 ERA in 38.2 innings pitched.

Luke Weaver

Luke Weaver is an extremely valuable reliever in his own right. He is owed more money than Raley, but he has an extra year under contract. A controllable reliever is typically one of the highest-value trade pieces at this time of the year.

Weaver has a 1.93 ERA in 42 innings pitched so far in 2026. He has been used primarily in a setup role. A team trading for him would be getting a reliable late-inning option who can make a true impact in the postseason.

Bo Bichette

Bo Bichette is someone the Mets need to find a way to trade. His salary has almost been paid in full for the year, so a team acquiring him wouldn’t be on the hook for much. Assuming he opts out after this season in search of a longer-term deal, there’s no risk for a team looking to trade for him.

Bichette brings no value to the Mets for the rest of the season and would be a wasted asset if they keep him around. It is the most important factor heading into the MLB trade deadline that they trade him for prospects.
