The New York Mets are in a position they never could have possibly imagined being in at the start of the season. They sit dead last in the NL East with a record of 41-57. This situation has gotten so bad that they are now destined to be sellers at this year’s MLB trade deadline. These three trade suggestions aren’t meant to be based on exact realism, but they would absolutely shock the league if they occurred.
Freddy Peralta To The Atlanta Braves

Freddy Peralta has been very bad in his first season with the Mets, and the cost they paid to get him makes it hurt even worse. The Atlanta Braves, however, are in a great spot to take advantage of the weakened value of Peralta. They have a need in the rotation for a postseason pitcher. Someone who they could trust to pitch in the first three games of a playoff series. Peralta, if he gets back on track, could be exactly what they need, and they could get him for a very low price.
Bo Bichette To The Philadelphia Phillies

Bo Bichette to the Philadelphia Phillies was a certainty at one point in the offseason. That was until, of course, the Mets swooped in and offered a huge three-year deal with an average value of $42 million. Normally, this high salary would push teams away from trading for him, but that’s not the case. He received $40 million in signing bonuses before the season, so the team trading for him would be on the hook for less than $2 million. He has opt-outs in his deal as well, turning the three-year deal into a potentially one-year contract.
The Phillies would need to reshuffle some things if they trade for Bichette now. They could get creative and move Alec Bohm to first base and Bryce Harper to the outfield, but that seems unlikely. The most likely outcome would be moving on from Bohm or Bryson Stott, creating a spot for Bichette. Stott has been very good as of late, so that would be difficult to do.
Francisco Lindor To The New York Yankees

Francisco Lindor trade rumors? Now we’re getting crazy. The Mets would absolutely hate to do this trade, but the prospects they could get in return would be insane. The New York Yankees are the team with the need and prospect capital to make this move work. If they’re serious about putting together a team to make a run at the World Series, they’d be all over a potential Lindor trade.
End Of My New York Mets MLB Rumors Rant
The Mets are in a bad position, but selling at the deadline is the way to make the most of this dreadful season. They would be one of the few selling teams at this year’s trade deadline, allowing them to drive the price up in their prized assets. These three trades would be absolutely shocking, but who knows what to expect from New York.
