The New York Mets have had an absolutely abysmal first half of the 2026 season. They came in with hopes of contending and pushing for an NL East crown. Instead, they are trying not to have the worst record in the division. They sit at 16 games behind the Atlanta Braves for the division and are eight games behind the Washington Nationals for the fourth spot in the East. Freddy Peralta was traded for this offseason with the expectation of taking the rotation over the top and being the true ace for a contending team. Well, that hasn’t worked out. He’s currently sitting at a 4.66 ERA and has not been what they hoped for. His previous track record of being an ace and the value of starting pitching this time of the year should still net them some great prospects.

Brooks Raley

Brooks Raley is one of the most underrated relief pitchers in the entire league. He has an ERA barely over two and has been exceptional in a high-leverage role for the Mets. Kodai Senga was once viewed as one of the key pieces and a staple in this new Mets push. In a similar situation to the rest of the team and players, he hasn’t lived up to expectations. In fact, that’s putting it very nicely. He’s been horrible. His ERA is 8.69 in 39 innings pitched. He would still be able to net them some pieces with his previous track record of being a top-of-the-rotation arm.
