With a Super Bowl MVP and AP Comeback Player of the Year award, plenty of teams could find a use for NFL veteran quarterback Joe Flacco. Perhaps he’s not what he once was, but he still has a strong arm and a lot of knowledge. With all the rumors flying around, these are the top 3 fits for Flacco.
The New York Giants are grasping for straws at the quarterback position. With Aaron Rodgers leading them on, and after meeting with Russell Wilson, the Giants official met with Flacco on Thursday, March 13, 2025. With a high probability of addressing quarterback in the draft, having a Super Bowl-winning veteran never hurts. The team would have the luxury of getting first-hand experience with the rookie, and decide how Flacco could lead by example. Whether they need a veteran to lean on, or a short-term starter, Flacco has something to provide.
Cleveland Browns fans are having Deja vu. Locked up in the restraints of their own creations, the Browns still need a quarterback. Cleveland could not pay or convince any elite quarterback to join. Flacco is a professional, steady veteran who won’t cost the team an arm and a leg. He won Comeback Player of the Year with the Browns, leading them to a playoff game, so of course, there would be some familiarity.
The Minnesota Vikings believe they have their future secured, with quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who is yet to play due to injury. They are specifically in the market for a veteran quarterback, and Flacco is a great fit. It would be lucky to get 17 games from him, but he can provide a solid start and guidance for the rookie. It never hurts to have a Super Bowl winner to bounce questions off of. The Vikings have stated their intention to start McCarthy as soon as possible, but nothing official has been announced yet. Flacco is the perfect combination of veteran knowledge and having enough gas in the tank to make positive starts.
As the free-agent quarterback market gets thinner, it only raises the rumors about the remaining options. The market determines a player’s value, but it would be wrong to expect Flacco to lead a team over a whole season, despite many fanbases doing a lot of wishful thinking online.
