Knicks vs. Spurs Game 3 recap: After winning the first two games on the road, the New York Knicks returned home to host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.

First Quarter – Knicks Vs. Spurs Game 3 Recap

Spurs’ center Victor Wembanyama kicked the game off right. He scored the first two baskets on dunks, along with a block, before New York could score their first points. San Antonio was 10/12 on field goals, and up 11 at the end of the first.

Second Quarter – Knicks Vs. Spurs Game 3 Recap

The Knicks started to pick at that lead in the second quarter. The defense started to find its way after seemingly forgetting Wembanyama was on the floor. Guard Stephon Castle was a massive reason the Spurs were still in it. Despite scoring 18 points during his first 18 minutes, his team was outscored by 18 in the quarter.

Third Quarter – Knicks Vs. Spurs Game 3 Recap

New York’s forward OG Anunoby and guard Jalen Brunson had 20+ points each at the end of the third quarter. This, however, wasn’t enough to slow down San Antonio. Wembanyama and Castle continued strong, but guard Dylan Harper also started to heat up. Harper’s effort helped his team get within one going into the fourth.

Fourth Quarter – Knicks Vs. Spurs Game 3 Recap

It took the Knicks over 3:30 to get their first basket of the fourth quarter, allowing the Spurs to build a seven-point lead. The teams went back and forth, culminating in a big three-pointer from Anunoby. With 9.4 seconds left, he cut the deficit to two.

San Antonio called a timeout, advancing the ball. Castle was swiftly fouled, but drained what felt like two daggers. Down four with 6.8 seconds to go, New York called its timeout. A group of anxious Spurs defenders went to the other end of the court. Time, ultimately, ran out on the Knicks, losing 115-111.
