Byron Buxton trade rumors could become a major storyline as the MLB trade deadline nears. When healthy, Buxton is one of the best outfielders in the entire MLB. His no-trade clause with the Minnesota Twins will limit the number of teams that will engage in trade talks, but these are three teams that could be great landing spots.

Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies make almost too much sense when it comes to a Buxton trade. They desperately need a right-handed bat to solidify the middle of their order, and their outfield is in need of serious upgrades as well. Their prospect capital may not be the best, but they have enough to make a deal done if they truly want Buxton. Gage Wood would be the biggest piece going to Minnesota.

Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers are currently below .500, but they aren’t out of the race yet. They sit just a few games back behind the Seattle Mariners for first in the AL West. Adding Buxton would solidify their outfield with Wyatt Langford and Brandon Nimmo in the corners and a currently injured Evan Carter in CF. A rotation between the OF and DH for those guys would keep them all healthy for a potential playoff run.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers will come up in every major trade discussion at this time of the year. They have the most prospect capital among any team in the league, and they aren’t afraid to use it. Is Buxton necessary? No. Do the Dodgers care? Also no.

Whether it’s the Phillies, Dodgers, or Rangers, all three teams would greatly benefit from adding a star player like Buxton. A trade is far from guaranteed, but this situation is still a great storyline to monitor as the MLB trade deadline nears.
