The Philadelphia 76ers will enter the first offseason in the post- Daryl Morey era. Mike Gansey will take control of this roster. He said they will need to look at minimum-salary contracts in free agency to help build depth. This mock offseason will do just that, while also getting creative in adding talent via trade and the available MLE.
Kyshawn George is the exact type of player the 76ers would be targeting if they were to make an impact trade this offseason. His contract is cheap, making it easily attainable by only trading draft capital and no roster players. The only question is, why would the Washington Wizards move him?
George is in a loaded group of youth on the Wizards right now, and they certainly won’t be able to pay them all extensions. Players like Tre Johnson, Bilal Coulibaly, Bub Carrington, and the upcoming number one overall pick are some of the players blocking George in a way. It won’t be cheap if they were to move off him, but the 76ers should jump at the chance to acquire him.
George would slot in as the starting SF in Philadelphia, moving Paul George to PF. Kyshawn George is a versatile wing who really showed his scoring ability this past season. He averaged nearly 15 points a night on 38% from three.
Allen Graves would be the perfect draft pick to solidify the 76ers offseason. He is not the most athletic power forward in the NBA draft, but he is extremely smooth. He can rebound and play-make, while also being able to shoot from deep. He shot 41% from three this past college season.
The 76ers need this prototypical modern NBA PF more than anything else. It has consistently been a weakness in the Joel Embiid era and rarely addressed by management. They have gone the route of moving a small forward (like Tobias Harris or Paul George) to the power forward position. Graves would come off the bench in year one, but quickly could find himself in the starting lineup one Paul George is no long rostered.
Collin Gillespie would be the big spending move by the 76ers this offseason. He’s coming off a breakout season with the Phoenix Suns where he averaged 12/4/4 on 40% from three. A guard to control the bench unit is something that has been missing, and Gillespie would solve that. He would also be able to play with Tyrese Maxey in some sets, with him being the on-ball guard.
Jock Landale would be one of the best backup centers Embiid has ever had. He would continue the theme of adding shooting to the bench unit. Having some of these shooters off the bench is something that hurts the 76ers every season in the playoffs. The New York Knicks were the recent success story of this, having Landry Shamet show off his shooting through their playoff run.
Josh Okogie would be a solid veteran to round off the bench on a minimum contract. It wouldn’t be anything special, but it would be a wing with experience and talented on the defensive side of the ball.

The 76ers and new president of basketball ops Gansey will have a big task in turning this roster into a contender. Bob Myers said he thinks they need to establish an identity, and adding this level of shooting would be something Philadelphia hasn’t seen in a while.
