Manchester United are rumored to be interested in Como’s winger Assane Diao. Como’s manager, Cesc Fabregas, has sent a message to warn off United from coming after Diao.
Understandably, MU might be interested in a player like Diao. Since he switched from Real Betis in Spain to Como in Italy, the wonderkid has been more than impressive.
In just 13 appearances, Diao scored six goals. This is just the beginning for the 19-year-old talent.
According to Mirror, Fabregas has clarified that Como wants to keep their best players with them. He said:
“We are trying to go for young, talented players who were not playing: they do well here and obviously their value increases. There is no mentality of speculating and selling, they come here to grow and improve the team. Then obviously, Manchester can come and ask for Diao by offering €40million, but it is not a given that he will leave.”
Como bought Diao from Betis in a £10.5million deal, and his performance led to this huge price increase. His anticipated fee might increase even more, especially since he has recently received his first senior international call-up for Senegal.
However, Manchester United’s interest is just a rumor. That didn’t stop Fabregas from specifically naming Manchester United in his warning, so anything is possible.
If Manchester United and Ruben Amorim are truly after Diao, they will be looking at one of the game’s rising talents. Diao has attracted Brentford’s attention before while he was still at Betis. So who is to say that he won’t attract the attention of United and other clubs?
Manchester United is already looking for new additions to improve its situation and end its struggle. Diao might be one of the many possible solutions.
If Manchester United wants to improve, they must consider bringing in talents like Diao. It’s only a matter of whether they are willing to pay €40million.
