IYO SKY Vs. Liv Morgan – WWE Women’s World Championship Match | WWE SummerSlam Night 1 Results
Iyo Sky had a shot at Liv Morgan and her WWE Women’s World Championship. Considering the history between the two, the early moments of the match’s flow were painfully awkward. After coming to the ring alone, Judgment Day (WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez and “The Prodigy” Roxanne Perez) came to aid their faction-mate, Morgan.

SKY was climbing to the top for a would-be finish when Perez ran interference on the referee. The pace and believability picked up, with entertaining high spots and reversals, leading to false finishes. It took numerous interferences and consecutive Oblivions for Morgan to retain the championship.
Knight, Sikoa & Keys Vs. The Bloodline | WWE SummerSlam Night 1 Results
This match felt like filler, not like they were aiming for a classic one, especially considering all of the hot tags and run-ins. In a bit of a surprise, LA Knight pinned Jimmy Uso in an otherwise relatively clean match. Solo Sikoa stopped The Usos from hitting a 1-D, leading to the finish.
Gunther vs. Nick Aldis | WWE SummerSlam Night 1 Results
After weeks of escalations and the dissolving of a manager-talent relationship, “The Ring General” Gunther and Nick Aldis finally had their time. These boys were planting potatoes and treating each other like Pogs with their slammer. Aldis put on a good show, but the inevitable came to fruition, with Gunther winning via submission.
Fatal Influence Vs. Paige & The Bellas | WWE SummerSlam Night 1 Results
Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reed) were undoubtedly the stronger and more athletic team, with segments of the match truly an embarrassment to the sport. Jane pinned Paige to pick up the victory for her team. The Bellas (Nikki and Brie Bella) turned heel after the loss, attacking their teammate for taking the cover.
Cody Rhodes Vs. CM Punk – Undisputed WWE Championship Match | WWE SummerSlam Night 1 Results
This match one got off to a cringe-worthy start. “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes gave a lengthy plug for the Street Fighter movie he’s in, including adding spiked blonde hair on his Premium Live Event mask. Rhodes targeted the knee, as the two had a pre-Attitude Era style match. There were numerous submissions with counters, and the slams were slow and theatrical.

Both Punk & Rhodes tried the other’s finisher as the match continued, but those led to near-falls. Things escalated to where Punk placed Rhodes on the announcer’s desk before climbing to the top rope. The pool was empty when he made the dive, and the two crawled their way back.
Rhodes inadvertently decked the referee, and “The Viper” Randy Orton made his surprise return. A RKO out of nowhere set up the finish, which included a classic injured-referee slow three-count, in these WWE SummerSlam Night 1 results.
Brock Lesnar Vs. Oba Femi – Hell In A Cell Match | WWE SummerSlam Night 1 Results
No tie-up to start this match, as “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar and “The Ruler” Oba Femi darted at each other. Within five minutes, there were tables, steps, and chairs introduced. Lesnar landed some of the more brutal blows, including heavy steel stairs to Femi’s dome.
Lesnar continued to bring the pain. After relentless chair shots and F-5s didn’t keep his opponent down, The Beast Incarnate tore up the mat to expose the wood. The Ruler shocked the world by kicking out of a Tombstone Piledriver on the exposed surface.

Femi hit his Fall From Grace sit-down powerbomb, and that was it. If kicking out of The Undertaker’s Tombstone Piledriver before defeating the man who ended his WrestleMania streak wasn’t symbolic enough, Femi’s post-match promo made WWE’s intentions clear: he’s the future.
