Will the Buffalo Bills win the Super Bowl? That has been the question since Josh Allen became an elite quarterback. They have been knocking on the door for years. Here’s the case for and against.
The Case For: The Bills Win The Super Bowl

The case for the Bills to finally break through is that they are leaning into their identity. Over the years, Buffalo has slowly transitioned from a defense-first to a dynamic offense team. From 2021-2023, they finished top four in scoring defense. In 2024 and 2025, they ranked 11th and 12th, respectively. Those are fine rankings, but not elite. Head coach Sean McDermott was known for his defensive prowess.
The issue Buffalo faced in later years was an identity crisis. The Bills were built to win with defense, but the defensive performance kept slipping. Allen progressed and won his first MVP in 2024. The team felt like it was in an awkward transition phase.
Now, Buffalo’s head coach is the former offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who was promoted in the 2026 offseason. In his first two games, Allen scored nine touchdowns with no turnovers as the Bills averaged 34 points per game. There is little hesitation from Brady in using Allen’s full arsenal. For example, the former 2018 draft pick is averaging 9.33 rush attempts per game. The highest mark before that was 7.29 in 2022.
Overall, Buffalo’s identity matches what the team does best. Win games with their offense built around Allen’s greatness. Rely on the defense to come through when needed, as they did against the Los Angeles Chargers last week.
Will the Bills win the Super Bowl? This little transition can certainly give fans hope that 2026-2027 will have a different ending.
The Case Against: The Bills Fall Short

The case against Buffalo winning it all is what we saw in Week Three. The Bills had five turnovers against the Chargers and ended up winning 24-16 as the defense came through in critical moments.
The issue is that the reckless form of turnover football is what killed the Bills last year. Against the Denver Broncos in the 2026 divisional round, Buffalo had five turnovers, four of them by Allen. It was a similar situation against Los Angeles.
The only difference was that the Chargers weren’t good enough to capitalize, as they are a struggling team right now at 0-3. What if the Bills have a performance like this in the playoffs? A playoff opponent won’t let Buffalo get away with a plethora of turnovers like Los Angeles did. The Bills offense is going to be dynamic under Brady, therefore, the “disaster” game could happen at a higher rate than in previous years.
Will the Bills win the Super Bowl? They are now more prone to being their worst enemies than ever.
End Of My Bills Win The Super Bowl Rant

So will the Bills win the Super Bowl? It’s tough to tell. The identity shift to being an offensive juggernaut gives Buffalo an edge over any team in a shootout. It allows Allen to raise his ceiling, and that feels like the most plausible path for them to win big games.
The flip side is that the Bills’ offense could have games like they did last week, turning the ball over five times. It’ll be interesting to see if the defense is legitimately good enough to hold down the fort when the offense is on a cold streak. For now, it can be chalked up to the Chargers being a bad team that couldn’t take advantage of a favorable situation.
Buffalo has leaned into their strengths. It makes the Bills incredibly difficult to beat. Can they, however, get out of their own way when it matters?
