USMNT vs. Belgium July 6, 2026 preview – The Knockout Stage, Round of 16, of the FIFA World Cup 2026 is actually here. On the card, The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) and Belgium are scheduled to clash on July 6 at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington. One team is looking to write history, while the other looks to represent a storied one.
The USMNT
After winning Group D over Australia, Paraguay, and Türkiye, the USMNT continues to build on this monumental appearance for the country. They faced Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32 and advanced with a decisive 2-0 victory. The win, however, came at a price. Striker and leading goal scorer Folarin Balogun was hit with a controversial red card in the 64th minute and will subsequently sit out this game.
Belgium
Yet to lose a game, Belgium entered the Knockout Stage by winning Group D ahead of Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand. The Belgians entered the Round of 16 with a dramatic, extra-time victory over a game Senegal. The team’s defense has had its moments, but has been largely successful, allowing just 1.25 goals per game over the four games of this World Cup. Averaging 2.25 goals per game over the same period, they’ve been a strong combination of adequate defense and opportunistic scoring.
USMNT Vs. Belgium July 6, 2026 Preview
This game could go either way, but it has to be leaning toward Belgium. The USMNT are without their leading goal-scorer and facing their stiffest test so far in this World Cup. Furthermore, a friendly meeting between these two teams in March was a 5-2 loss for the Americans.

To their credit, the USMNT has never looked sharper, and they’ll also have the raucous hometown crowd on their side. With the U.S. enthusiasts’ momentum, support, and a little bit of luck, the Americans may pull this one out. Without Balogun, the team truly needs someone to step up against this dangerous Belgium team.
