Jacy Jayne is the one wrestler on SmackDown built to take the WWE Women’s United States Championship off Tiffany Stratton, and the pieces have been sitting in place since April. Every other option on the blue brand fits the spot worse.
Stratton beat Giulia on the April 24 episode of SmackDown to win the Women’s United States Championship, ending the second reign of The Beautiful Madness at 113 days. The win made Stratton the youngest champion in the short history of the belt.
Fatal Influence crashed the same broadcast. Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid destroyed all four women in the Women’s Tag Team Championship match. Later that night, Jayne worked a non-title singles match with Rhea Ripley that ended in disqualification.
Two arrivals, one episode, and no follow-up connecting them since. Coincidence that neat rarely lands in a booker’s lap twice. WWE has run four months of television without putting the newest heel in the building across from the newest champion.
Jayne walked in with a two-time NXT Women’s Championship run behind her, including reigns of 150 and 135 days, plus a stretch as TNA Knockouts World Champion. The Rolling Encore has already put away Charlotte Flair in a singles match on the main roster.
Fatal Influence beat Ripley, Flair, and Alexa Bliss in a six-woman tag the following week. Henley and Reid function as built-in interference, which is exactly the structure a heel challenger needs against a champion the crowd loves.
WWE appears to agree. According to reports, creative rearranged plans to feature Jayne more prominently after the reactions to those first few appearances.
Stratton and Jayne have each held the NXT Women’s Championship. Stratton returned to that show in September 2025 alongside Ripley and Stephanie Vaquer specifically to confront Jayne and Fatal Influence, which means the confrontation already exists on tape.
A promo can cover the rest in five minutes. Jayne left NXT as the standard-bearer of that division and arrived to find a former holder of the same title carrying a bigger one. Resentment that specific writes itself without a single flashback package.
Waiting longer only shrinks the options. The alternative is another challenger the audience has already watched Stratton beat. Giulia has a rematch claim, and Kiana James lingers around the edges of the picture, but a familiar face does not create a new story.
Timing favors the move as well. Stratton has carried the belt since April without a defense that felt like a genuine threat. A champion who never appears to be in danger stops being interesting somewhere around month four, and the reign is already there. Fresh challengers with real momentum are the only cure for that, and exactly one of those exists on the brand right now.
SmackDown has been handed a gift and keeps setting it down. Jayne is over. Fatal Influence is over. The Women’s United States Championship needs a challenger who feels like a threat instead of a name filling out a card. WWE has the answer standing in the same locker room every Friday.
Stratton is the perfect opponent for the assignment. The crowd cheers her regardless of what the character does, the athleticism travels, and the Prettiest Moonsault Ever is a finish worth booking a near fall around. A babyface champion with that reaction needs a heel who can genuinely take the belt, not another opponent the audience knows loses.
Give it four weeks. Jayne and the group cost Stratton a match, Stratton fights through the numbers, and the title changes hands at a premium live event with the whole faction at ringside. Jayne walks out with the first main roster championship of a run WWE is already accelerating. Stratton gets a chase worth watching instead of a string of clean defenses against opponents forgotten by Monday. Run it.
