LA Knight turning heel to take the World Heavyweight Championship from Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank is the latest pitch from Peter Rosenberg. Speaking on Cheap Heat, the WWE Evolve play-by-play commentator floated a secret connection between Knight and 946, the group of Royce Keys, Bronco Nima, and Lucien Price. The title match takes place Oct. 10 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

Rosenberg said the idea started with a listener call to Busted Open. “A caller presented this week on Busted Open that, what if 946 shenanigans happen and LA Knight ends up winning?” Rosenberg said. Busted Open host Dave LaGreca pushed back, with Rosenberg recalling the response as “I don’t wanna see basically a heel faction lead to a babyface winning the title.”

“And I think that’s a fair old school way of looking at it,” Rosenberg said. “But what if LA Knight turns out to have some sort of association?” The Cheap Heat host added that a turn would work “because there are still so many people who cheer for him so passionately.”

Rosenberg even pitched how Knight could explain the move on television. “I never could get over the mountain. I wasn’t able to get to the top the way things were. I had to go get help,” Rosenberg said, speaking as Knight. The podcast host also brought up a possible Cody Rhodes turn, saying, “we may not ever get the Cody turn, even though we think everyone’s ready for it.”

How LA Knight Earned His Shot At Roman Reigns

Knight confronted Reigns on the Aug. 3 episode of Raw and demanded a title match. On the Aug. 31 episode, the champion hit Knight with a Superman Punch. After Raw went off the air in Mexico City on Sept. 14, Knight answered by hitting Reigns with a BFT following the champion’s win over Penta.

Raw general manager Adam Pearce made the Money in the Bank match official the next day. On the Sept. 21 episode of Raw, Knight vowed to dethrone Reigns, who was not on the show. The Tribal Chief has held the title since beating CM Punk at WrestleMania 42 on April 19, with defenses against Jacob Fatu (twice), Seth Rollins, and Penta.

Knight and Reigns have met for a world title before. At Crown Jewel on Nov. 4, 2023, Reigns beat Knight after interference from Jimmy Uso, according to Wikipedia. Knight later won the United States Championship twice, first from Logan Paul at SummerSlam 2024 and then from Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown in March 2025.

946 Has Been Targeting The Bloodline

Keys lost a Street Fight to Fatu on the Aug. 3 Raw and left needing medical attention. Three weeks later, the Street Fight loser returned with Nima and Price on the Aug. 24 episode. The trio attacked Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa during a tag match that also included Knight. The group jumped The Usos in a parking lot on Aug. 31 and set their car on fire on Sept. 7.

End Of My LA Knight Rant

WWE should not turn Knight heel. The entire Megastar act runs on the crowd, and the crowd is still there. Rosenberg said it himself: people cheer for Knight passionately. Throwing that away for a shock finish would be a mistake.

LaGreca has it right. A heel faction should not hand a babyface the title, and Knight should not need 946 to beat Reigns. The Megastar already lost to Reigns at Crown Jewel because of outside help, and a second faction-driven finish would feel like a rerun.

Knight told Van Vliet he needed direction and a trajectory. A world title shot at Money in the Bank is exactly that. Let Knight beat Reigns clean in New Orleans, or let the chase continue, but keep Knight a babyface.
