The Pittsburgh Steelers traveled to Carolina for their final preseason game of 2025 and beat the Carolina Panthers 19-10. It was a sloppy game. Pittsburgh couldn’t stop committing penalties, but they came out with the win. Next time they put the pads on, it will be a real game against the New York Jets. It’s time for real football that counts.

5. Derrick Harmon Scares Steelers Nation

Derrick Harmon got carted to the locker room with a knee injury, and it didn’t look good based on his reaction. Steelers Nation was scared. Pittsburgh has had bad injury luck with recent draft picks, and it felt like it was happening again. Losing Harmon for the year would have been devastating, but he is alright. Fans breathed a sigh of relief when he walked back to the sideline later in the game and seemed to be in good spirits. He has a knee sprain and is expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks.

4. Yahya Black’s Stock Is Up

Steelers rookie Yahya Black has put together a nice preseason. In the final game against Carolina, he dominated. Black was tied for the team lead in total tackles with five and also posted two tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble. His belly rub celebration was awesome. Pittsburgh might have found Big Snack Jr.

3. Skylar Thompson Makes A Case To Be QB2

Skylar Thompson was cooking again in the final preseason game. He completed 11 of 13 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown. He has put together a great preseason. Mason Rudolph looked shaky in the final two games. If Will Howard heads to the IR, Thompson has an opportunity to be QB2 behind Aaron Rodgers. The Steelers might stick with Rudolph due to comfort level, but Thompson has been good throughout camp and the preseason.

2. The Summer Of Scotty Miller Continues

Scotty Miller solidified his spot on the 53-man roster with his performance against the Panthers. He was targeted three times and caught all three passes for 83 yards. Miller was on the receiving end of a 53-yard dime from Thompson. Miller has looked great throughout training camp and the preseason, and he deserves a spot on the final roster.

1. Troy Fautanu Is The Truth

Troy Fautanu missed his entire rookie season due to injury, but he has looked great in the 2025 preseason. He has played 30 pass blocking snaps and allowed zero pressures. Pittsburgh found its next great offensive tackle. The jury is out on Broderick Jones, but he looks more comfortable at left tackle. If he can match Fautanu’s energy, the Steelers are set for the future.

End Of My Pittsburgh Steelers Rant

The Steelers played a sloppy game to close the preseason, but the win had a few good takeaways. Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf have been patiently waiting to play their first game together, and they will get that opportunity in Week 1 against Rodgers’ old team. In Week 2, Pittsburgh squares off with Metcalf’s old team. It’s going to be a fun season in the Steel City.
