The New Orleans Saints need extra help in the wide receiver room. The team needs improvement in this department, and it has even led to some mock trades suggesting that Chris Olave should be moved to rebuild it from scratch. With new head coach Kellen Moore taking the helm, Olave doesn’t appear to be going anywhere; quite the opposite.
Saints Want Olave Involved In 2025
One of the first things Kellen Moore discussed was his complete faith in Chris Olave. He mentioned that Olave will have a huge impact on the Saints franchise in this upcoming season.
Of course, he will need to stay healthy for this to remain a possibility. Moore even suggested that the team would be extra cautious with Olave, considering his concussion history over the past couple of years.
Assuming Olave remains healthy and involved in Moore’s new offense, it’s a safe bet that the wide receiver will lead the team in receiving yards.

Receivers Can Still Be Added
Even with the franchise’s faith in Chris Olave, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Saints add to their receiver room. Some mock drafts have suggested that Tetairoa McMillan would be a perfect fit with the number nine overall selection in the upcoming NFL draft.
McMillan is a bigger-bodied receiver, something that New Orleans has desperately needed since Michael Thomas departed. The current room consists of shiftier wideouts like Olave and Rashid Shaheed.
It can’t be overlooked how the team floundered offensively when both Olave and Shaheed got injured in 2024. This group needs to be prepared in case injuries occur, building sufficient talent depth to withstand the season. Perhaps free agency is still a possibility?
End Of My Saints Rant
The Saints might be looking to give Olave more opportunities while simultaneously building their receiver room, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be pass-happy. Kellen Moore just helped the Philadelphia Eagles win a Super Bowl with his play-calling. Play calling that saw the Eagles rank last in passes attempted.
If the team opts to focus on their ground game, it might give their receivers some additional durability. Especially towards the back half of the season.
