After beating the Bucks and Heat, respectively, the Pacers and Cavs will meet in the Eastern Conference semifinals. There are plenty of storylines to discuss heading into the series, including the health of Darius Garland and the drama surrounding Tyrese Haliburton’s father. For now, though, let’s focus on basketball.
The Cavs quickly handled business against the Heat, sweeping them. Meanwhile, the Pacers also made quick work of the Bucks, defeating them in five games. So, both teams should be entering the series fresh, giving the series even more energy.
During the regular season, the Pacers took down the Cavs three times in their four games against each other. The Cavs probably know this all too well. So, expect Cleveland to come out fired up and Indiana to be confident. Setting up a highly entertaining series.
As with any playoff series, role players are oftentimes the key to winning. That’s not different here. The bench players will decide who wins or loses this series. The Cavs have arguably the best rotation of players in the league, meaning the Pacers’ role players will have to step up. That wouldn’t be surprising, remembering that Indiana has gotten the best out of Cleveland this year. All eyes should be on players like Ty Jerome, De’Andre Hunter, Andrew Nembhard, and T.J. McConnell.
Although the Pacers play beautiful basketball, the Cavaliers seem too good. Everything has been clicking for Cleveland since the start of the season. Kenny Atkinson has helped them level up. Indiana could continue to get the best of the Cavs, but it doesn’t appear likely. Donovan Mitchell and company are on a mission. Prediction: The Cavs win in six games.
Regardless of the outcome, this Pacers-Cavaliers series should be extremely enjoyable. Both teams play basketball the right way. NBA fans everywhere should want to tune into these games. Hopefully, they do.
