It’s Week Three and the Kansas City Chiefs are coming to town. The Colts are looking to get a few players back into the lineup. Check out the recap of this week’s initial injury report below.

The Indianapolis Colts (0-1-1) are prepping for their home opener as the Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) come into town for a Week Three marquee matchup. The Colts are still searching for their first win after losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, 24-0. The Chiefs are coming off a few extra days of rest after playing the Chargers on Thursday night in Week Two.

  1. The new additions to the injury report this week: offensive tackle Bernhard Raiman/ankle/DNP, safety Julian Blackman/shoulder/Full Participant, linebacker Zaire Franklin/shoulder/Full Participant, defensive end Yannick Ngakoue/back/LP, and defensive tackle Grover Stewart/shoulder/Full Participant

  2. Linebacker Shaquille Leonard/back and wide receiver Alec Pierce/concussion were both Full Participants Wednesday. Wide receiver Michael Pittman, Jr., who missed the game last week with a quad injury, and defensive tackle Deforest Buckner/hip, were both limited participants on Wednesday. That is a good sign for their availability this week, especially for Michael Pittman, Jr.

  3. Shaquille Leonard was listed as a full participant last week, but was held out of the Week Two matchup against the Jaguars.

  4. Alec Pierce looks to be trending in the right direction and is expected to clear concussion protocols barring any setbacks. Frank Reich said on Wednesday, “Wide receiver Alec Pierce has one more step to clear in the concussion protocol but is trending up.

Colts LB Shaq Leonard on his status for Sunday's game vs. KC (this is his 4th week of practice): "Been a better week. Getting more explosive on my steps. Feeling a whole lot better than I did last week." Decision won't come until after Thursday or Friday's practice, he says. — Zak Keefer (@zkeefer) September 22, 2022

Colts’ Thursday Practice Report

  1. Defensive end Yannick Ngakque, who was added to the injury report on Wednesday, was listed as a limited participant and did not participate in practice on Thursday with a back injury. Defensive tackle Deforest Buckner was listed as a full participant, and Offensive tackle Bernhard Raimann, who is battling an ankle injury, was listed as a limited participant.

  2. Wide reciever Michael Pittman, Jr. who is coming back from a quad injury was still listed as a limited participant on Thursday, but seemed to be trending in the right direction. Wide receiver Alec Pierce/concussion put together another day of a full practice. All signs are pointing to him playing on Sunday as long as there are no setbacks.

  3. Nothing has changed for safety Julian Blackman/shoulder, defensive tackle Grover Stewart/shoulder, linebacker Zaire Franklin/shoulder.

  4. Linebacker Shaquille Leonard was listed as a full participant on Thursday. He has put together his fifth straight full practice since coming back from his back surgery.

Colts’ Friday Practice Report

  1. Offensive tackle Bernhard Raimann/ankle and linebacker Shaquille Leonard both participated in practice on Friday, but have been officially ruled out for the Week Three matchup against the Chiefs.

  2. Shaquille Leonard, who has been a full participant in practice since last week and is still recovering from the back surgery he had in the offseason, will not be making his much anticipated debut for the Colts on Sunday. There have been no setbacks, but Frank Reich said on Friday, “Really good week for Shaq. There’s been incremental improvement every week. I would say this week was incremental-plus… What’s left is, he’s gotta know he can go out there and play winning football.”

  3. Wide receiver Michael Pittman, Jr. /quad and wide receiver Alec Pierce/concussion were both full participants in practice on Friday. Pierce, who has cleared concussion protocols, and Pittman, Jr., who is coming back from a quad injury that caused him to miss Week Two, are ready to go for Sunday.

  4. Safety Julian Blackmon, linebacker Zaire Franklin, and defensive tackle Grover Stewart were listed as full participants all week after being added to the report with shoulder injuries.
