Washington Commanders Final Injury Report Vs Houston Texans Week 11

The Washington Commanders Ron Rivera gave some updates, three players were ruled out today, and questions are starting to form about why a few long-time injured players weren’t placed on IR to give the team more roster flexibility. Cole Holcomb will miss his fourth-straight game but participated in practice which was a good sign for his recovery from a foot sprain. J.D. McKissic misses his third-straight game, and there have been no updates about his neck injury. Commanders Rookie TE Armani Rogers showed up on the injury report yesterday and has now been ruled out.

Commanders Injuries

OUT LB Cole Holcomb – Holcomb practiced for the first time in almost four weeks and has missed the last three games with a foot sprain.

RB J.D. McKissic – We’re concerned for J.D.’s health territory after McKissic has missed two games and is dealing with a neck injury that ended his season last year.

TE Armani Rogers – Washington’s healthiest TE, now joins the list and will miss Sunday’s game. Fellow rookie Cole Turner should take his spot on gameday.

Questionable LB David Mayo – Mayo missed the last two weeks with a hamstring injury, but could come back to replace Jon Bostic as the #2 LB behind Jamin Davis

After tweaking his knee in practice, RB Jonathan Williams was added to the injury report last week. He was a full participant in practice this week but was limited today.

CB Christian Holmes – The rookie CB shows up on the injury report with a hamstring injury.

No injury status RB Antonio Gibson – Gibson looked like he hurt his ankle last week but is good to go for the Texans.

WR Curtis Samuel – A shin injury won’t keep Samuel from playing.

C Tyler Larsen – Washington’s starting center listed with a back injury the last two weeks but has played every snap.

TE Logan Thomas – Logan Thomas is more consistent on this list than he is on the field at this point.

Not Listed RT Sam Cosmi – He had thumb surgery over a month ago. He was active for the last three games and was worked into the game by rotating with Cornelius Lucas. Expect him to take over the starting role at RT sooner than later.

DE Chase Young – It’s not likely that Chase Young will play this week, but Washington will have him return before next Wednesday’s deadline. After that, it’s a waiting game for when he’s ready to play.

QB Carson Wentz – Wentz will miss his 5th straight game with a broken finger that is getting closer to being fully healed.

This injury list brings me back to the “Body Bag Game.” The Body Bag Game was an MNF game that was played on November 12, 1990, between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins at Veterans Stadium. The Eagles defeated the Redskins, 28–14. Its nickname comes from a pre-game boast from Eagles head coach Buddy Ryan, who told reporters his team would inflict a beating on Washington so bad “they’ll have to be carted off in body bags.” Then, during the game, nine Washington Redskins players left with injuries. An Eagles player reacted to one of those injured Redskins by yelling, “Do you guys need any more body bags?” Savage!

Texans Injuries

According to the Texans, Derek Stingley Jr. has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Stingley first appeared on the Texans’ injury report on Wednesday after he was limited during practice, which forced him to miss the previous two sessions.

He is competitive — I’ve been impressed with him up until this point,” cornerbacks coach Dino Vasso said of Stingley’s overall talent. “He doesn’t have any physical limitations. He does have a few things that he does better than others. But he can do it all. Dino Vasso – Houston Texans

After the Texans drafted Stingley with the No. 3 pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, the LSU product has been relatively healthy following an injury-plagued college career. Stingley’s only injury scare came during the Texans’ Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The injury occurred midway through the fourth quarter after Stingley made a tackle on Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams. He re-entered the game twice after two quick evaluations by the Texans’ medical staff.

Derek appeared in the Texans’ 13-6 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars the following week, where he recorded his first career interception. After appearing in each of the first nine games, Stingley has registered 43 tackles, five pass deflections and 1.0 sacks.

The Texans also listed Maliek Collins (chest), Nico Collins (groin), and Brandin Cooks (wrist/hip) on the injury report. All three players were full participants during practice and will be available against the Commanders. Defensive lineman Rasheem Green also missed Friday’s practice due to an illness. Green’s status against Washington is questionable.

Washington Commanders vs. Houston Texans, 1:00 p.m. ET, will be airing on Fox. Is this the game where the Texans finally break through for another win? Doubtful.
