Could The New York Giants Have A New Starting Quarterback This Season?

The New York Giants have been speculated to be in the market for a new signal-caller. The team recently extended quarterback Daniel Jones after he led the team to the playoffs for the first time in six years in 2022.

But after Jones missed a good portion of the season and New York finished last season near the bottom of the league, the team considered drafting a new quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. 

While the team selected wide receiver Malik Nabers instead and did not select a quarterback in the draft, Danny Dimes’ job is not safe as the G-Men could still look to start someone else front and center. Could that quarterback be former second-round pick Drew Lock? 

Drew Lock Could Win The Starting Quarterback Job In New York

Drew Lock was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. After a disappointing sophomore season with big exceptions, a year where Lock threw 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions with a 4-9 record, the Broncos went forward with Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback leading Lock to be shipped off to Seattle in 2022 for Russell Wilson. 

While he didn’t play much for the neon green and navy blue, Lock did start two games for Seattle in 2023 throwing for 543 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions including a game-winning touchdown to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Lock already has experience beating the Eagles, a team Daniel Jones has not defeated since 2021.

The Giants will likely have a quarterback battle in training camp and Drew Lock has a great chance of being named QB1 in 2024. While it would make sense to start Jones because of the money they are paying him, it is no sure thing. So what are your thoughts? Who is the better quarterback? Drew Lock or Daniel Jones?
