2022 Packers Week Five Game Preview: Packers Host Giants In London

The Packers will be the 32nd team in the NFL to finally play across the pond in London.

The Green Bay Packers (3-1) are finally playing in London. The 103-year-old franchise makes its debut after many years of not wanting to give up a home game. Green Bay finally gave in thanks to the ninth home game added in with the 17-game schedule. The Packers will face the New York Giants (3-1) in the first London game ever where both teams have a winning record. So prior to the first snap, both franchises are already making history.

Quarterback Matchup: Aaron Rodgers (GB) Versus Daniel Jones (NYG)

Rodgers makes his first European visit in his NFL career. He is coming off a 27-24 overtime win versus the New England Patriots in which he led a game-winning drive. Unfortunately, he also threw his fourth career pick-six. Daniel Jones only had 71 passing yards for the New York Giants but he left the game with an injury and returned when backup Tyrod Taylor was also injured. Jones will start against the Packers on Sunday.

Skill Player Matchup: Aaron Jones (GB) Versus Saquon Barkley (NYG)

Two of the most electric players in the game. Aaron Jones has been a big part of the Packers’ offense. His yards per carry has been outstanding. Green Bay’s offense clicks when they run more, especially when they struggle in all-pass drives like last week. Jones and his teammate running back AJ Dillon make a great duo! Saquon Barkley has been playing elite this season as he stays healthy after dealing with injury issues in the past few years. He is the number one threat as the Packers’ defense should focus on him, especially with New York’s depleted receiving core.

Injury Update: Jaire Alexander, CB

Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander, who is one of the best cornerbacks in the league was injured early in the Week three game. He didn’t return and was ruled out with a groin injury. Alexander missed last week’s game against the Patriots as he nursed his injury. He was taken off the injury report after practicing this week and it looks like he will be good to go.

America’s Pick: Green Bay Packers

According to Bing, 71% of voters picked the Green Bay Packers to win. Although the New York Giants are 3-1, many don’t view them as a good team because of their easy schedule and subpar offense. With an easier schedule, expect Green Bay to be favored in every game until they play Buffalo in a couple of weeks.

Official Score Prediction: Green Bay 31, New York 20

Like last week, it’s another game the Packers should win. They are the better team all around and with an offense that should do better than last week against a subpar offense like the Giants. My only concern is that the team might not play that well. The Packers had some travel struggles getting from Green Bay to London and it upset the team. Also, head coach Matt LaFleur did not seem thrilled about playing in London. Sunday’s game is at 9:30 AM EST on NFL Network.
