The Philadelphia Phillies have stars that pop out on the traditional stat sheet. They have the current league leaders in home runs and batting average on the same team. Now, let’s take a look beyond the basic stats that everyone knows. Let’s look at one interesting stat from each player on the 26-man roster.

Stats are updated following the Phillies 12-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on 8/22/26

Starting Pitchers

Zack Wheeler

Wheeler is one of the most methodical pitchers in today’s game. He puts hitters away before they even have a chance. When Wheeler gets ahead in the count, his batting average against drops to .113. That’s incredible in its own right, but the crazier stat is that his WHIP in that same situation is an absurdly low .37!

Cristopher Sanchez

Sanchez has been elite all season long, and that became evident when he went on his legendary scoreless streak of 50 2/3 innings. He made this happen in most part due to his .194 BAA with runners in scoring position. Even when you manage to get into a good position against the Phillies ace, he still doesn’t let you do anything with it.

Jesus Luzardo

Luzardo has been dominant as of late, but most of his success this season has come on the road. He has a 1.95 ERA in away starts this season compared to a 4.75 ERA at Citizens Bank Park.

Aaron Nola

Nola has turned a page this month, becoming one of the better versions of himself we’ve seen in a long time. His 25 strikeouts since August 8th ranks second in the entire MLB, only behind teammate Jesus Luzardo (30Ks).

Andrew Painter

Painter has finally started to look like the pitcher Phillies fans were hoping for. He just had the best game of his MLB career, going seven innings of one run ball against the St.Louis Cardinals, tying a career high by striking out eight batters. Painter has a 3.95 ERA in five starts since being recalled, allowing more than two earned runs just once.

Relief Pitchers

Tim Mayza

Mayza is one of the most reliable arms that Philadelphia has in the bullpen. His stat isn’t the craziest, but it’s something fans should know when he’s on the mound. The lefty reliever features reverse splits, performing better against LHH (.213 BAA) than RHH (.241).

Chase Shugart

Shugart may be right on the roster bubble, but he has shown some signs of life for the Phillies. His most impressive statistic comes from his newfound ability to strike out batters. His percentage has jumped from 17% in 2025 to nearly 28% this season.

Alex McFarlane

McFarlane has just begun his MLB career with the Phillies, so it’s tough to get an accurate look at what he may look like. One stat that sticks out is his 12% weak contact rate (MLB average is 4%). Don’t expect the young reliever to be getting hit hard very often.

Jose Alvarado

Alvarado has been all over the place this season. Let’s take a look at something that may be causing his turbulent 2026. The obvious cause is the lack of command returning. Alvarado has struggled to get ahead in the count, dropping his first pitch strike percentage 3% from where it was last season. His BB% is 10.4%, up more than 4% from 2025.

Orion Kerkering

Kerkering has been very up and down this season, and this could be traced back to one simple thing. Getting ahead in the count. When ahead in the count, his BAA is .187 (.69 WHIP). When he falls behind hitters, the number skyrockets to a .255 BAA and an absurd 3.08 WHIP.

Jonathan Bowlan

Bowlan has always been an advanced analytics darling, commonly featuring “all red” on his baseball savant page. This was an encouraging sign when the Phillies acquired him from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for Matt Strahm. Bowlan has turned into a great high leverage reliever in Philadelphia. He has an xBA of .195 this season (expected batting average allowed).

Brooks Raley

Raley came over from the New York Mets at the 2026 MLB trade deadline. His crazy stat comes from games in which he pitches during the day. He has a .43 ERA, allowing just one earned run in day games this season.

Jhoan Duran

Duran is well on his way to becoming the best closer in Phillies franchise history. He’s getting closer to his first major milestone, the most saves in a single season in franchise history. He currently has 28 saves, placing him at 21 on Philadelphia’s all time leaderboard. Jose Mesa is the current record holder with 45 saves in 2002.

Catchers

JT Realmuto

Realmuto has been elite at using the new ABS challenge system behind the plate. He has the highest percentage (78%) of challenges won among catchers with more than 11 appeals. Realmuto has challenged 60 pitches and has won 47 of them.

Garrett Stubbs

Stubbs doesn’t get many opportunities when playing behind Realmuto, but he does have one thing in common with JT. Stubbs has an elite pop time, one that is actually faster than Realmuto and everyone else in the MLB. His 1.84 average pop time leads all MLB catchers.

Infielders

Alec Bohm

Bohm has been one of the hottest hitters in the league in the month of August. He has a batting average of .378 this month, good for fourth-best in the MLB. The best part of this streak is his ability to put the ball in play. He has struck out just four times in his last 20 games played.

Luis Arraez

Arraez has completely changed the dynamic of the Phillies offense since joining the team at the trade deadline. He has a .315 batting average in 17 games with Philadelphia. That’s not the impressive stat, however. Diving deeper, the current MLB batting average leader went into a 0-17 drought soon after arriving in Philly. Without that, Arraez would be hitting .410 as a Phillie.

Trea Turner

Turner’s 2026 struggles can quickly be attributed to his inability to hit the fastball. His batting average against the pitch is .270 this season. That may not seem horrible, but it is down all the way from .350 last season. Maybe a more aggressive approach at the plate could serve him well. His first-pitch swing percentage is down 5% from last season.

Jul 26, 2026; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott (5) reacts after hitting a three RBI double during the sixth inning against the New York Yankees at Citizens Bank Park. Mandatory Credit: Eric Hartline-Imagn Images

Bryson Stott

Stott has improved at so many different aspects of his game this season, but nothing compares to the leaps he’s made against left handed pitching. He has gone from someone who was getting platooned on a regular basis to someone who has become impossible to take out of the lineup against lefties. He’s hitting .298 with a .383 OBP against LHP this season.

Edmundo Sosa

Sosa has not been given as much of a role in the infield due to the progression made by Stott. This has caused him to become one of the more versatile players in the roster, moving to the outfield for some spot starts. His 155 innings played in LF is his interesting stat, especially considering he had less than 16 innings in the outfield coming into the 2026 season.

Outfielders/DH

Kyle Schwarber

Schwarber has excelled in clutch situations this season. He has come to the plate 36 times after the seventh inning in a game that was deemed close. In these at-bats he’s hitting .389/.560/.750 (1.310 OPS).

Career milestone watch: Schwarber is 22 home runs shy of 400 for his career

Bryce Harper

Harper emphasized his intentions to draw more walks this season than ever in his MLB career. Since the trade for Arraez, he has done just that. Harper has 26 walks in 20 games in August.

Career milestone watch: Harper is 11 home runs shy of 400 for his career

Brandon Marsh

Marsh had an incredible start to the 2026 season, but has cooled down as of late. A major reason for this is his chase percentage creeping up higher and higher as the season goes on. It is now up to 37%, by far a career high. He has notably struggled specifically with sweepers. He has seen 178 (10%) this season and has a strikeout rate of 48% on that specific pitch.

Justin Crawford

Crawford has continued to make that high ground ball rate that scared fans when he was coming through the minor leagues, work at the MLB level. He has a 57% ground ball percentage (MLB average: 44%), but that hasn’t stopped him from being a legitimate contributor from the bottom of the lineup.

Philadelphia Phillies Derek hill Player stats

Derek Hill

Hill has come up in huge moments since joining the Phillies roster. His stat comes in an area that brought one of the more memorable moments of the season for Phillies fans. His seventh-inning grand slam against the Washington Nationals gave them a 4-3 lead. Hill is 3/5 when batting with the bases loaded, driving in seven runs.

Bryan De La Cruz

De La Cruz has seen very limited time in the major leagues this season, so take his numbers with a grain of salt. The one stat that sticks out is the difference in performance when facing starting pitchers vs relief pitchers. He has a .471 batting average against starters compared to .222 against relievers.
