The biggest blow to the NFL in Week 15 has to be the Patrick Mahomes injury. The Kansas City Chiefs were in a tough position to make the playoffs. Still needing help beyond their control, the team hosted the Los Angeles Chargers in hopes of doing everything they could. Fans of the league in general will miss his talents, as the team officially misses the playoffs.

The Patrick Mahomes Injury

The Chiefs entered this game clinging to what little hope remained of securinga playoff berth. Down 16-13 going into the fourth quarter, Mahomes and company were fighting for their lives.

Mahomes was clearly hurt at one point, but battled through it at first. Later, while scrambling, it was clear something damning had happened. NBC Sports reports on specifics of the Mahomes injury, including comments from the dejected star after the game.

“Don’t know why this had to happen,” Mahomes said. “And not going to lie it’s hurts. But all we can do now is trust in God and attack every single day over and over again. Thank you Chiefs kingdom for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out and sent prayers. I will be back stronger than ever.”

The End Of An Era

Unfortunately, NFL fans won’t see him again until at least next season. It’s the end of a dynasty in Kansas City, which is likely to play out the year with quarterback Gardner Minshew. Similar to the Tom Brady era in New England, haters love to see dominance collapse. They forget how the Chiefs made it to, at least, the Conference Championship Game in seven consecutive seasons, as if this tarnishes their period of AFC control.

End of My Patrick Mahomes Injury Rant

Originally dubbed as a knee injury, Sportsnet later reported the Mahomes injury was a torn ACL. It also mentioned that head coach Andy Reid said, “He will get an MRI tomorrow or this evening,” after the game. Fans will have to wait for an update on the Mahomes injury and to see who becomes the new king of the AFC.
