OTE MVP Isaac Ellis is reclassifying to the 2026 class and joining Louisville Cardinals Basketball early after a record-breaking season in Overtime Elite. He is a consensus 5-star, top-25 national guard prospect

“It really wasn’t a hard sell for me. Playing for this program is a dream come true; I just get to do it a lot sooner than I originally expected, and I get to do it on a team that is going to be incredibly talented with a bunch of really good guys,” Ellis stated.

Ellis had an absolutely historic season this past year with the YNG Dreamerz in Overtime Elite. He led the league in both scoring and assists, averaging 29.3 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 8.9 APG, and 1.9 SPG en route to OTE MVP.

Ellis also broke numerous OTE records this past season, including the single-game scoring record (56 points on November 14th), the single-game assist record (18 assists on December 20th). He broke the single-season three-pointers made record (159 3PM), and both the single-season assist record and the all-time OTE assist record.

Ellis brings shot-making and creativity to the ACC. This is a massive future piece for Head Coach Pat Kelsey and Louisville. Isaac is the younger brother of South Carolina’s Eli Ellis; hooping runs in the family.

Ellis will most likely not see heavy minutes as a freshman reclass, but Kelsey clearly wants to get him reps and develop him for the future. This is a smart long-term move.

Ellis is looking at two things. NIL opportunities are clearly part of the equation, but the Cardinals’ roster construction and long-term outlook also played a major role. The second thing is the Louisville team being built. On paper, this is a very talented basketball team. He is reclassifying himself to play this season because he sees a team that can win a National Championship.

The people trashing Ellis for being too old, too small, and not the perfect prospect are making the same lazy takes. He is a 19-year-old who is still learning. The Cardinals needed shooters, and if he can be like Tim Henderson and Kyle Kuric in their early years, that’s good enough.

The Ellis brothers have faced elite competition for years. OTE has produced real NBA talent. Nobody becomes nationally known by accident. Ellis has faced skepticism regarding his size and age, but his production against elite competition speaks for itself.
