NFL Week Eight has wrapped. It is time to pick and pull a few of the main games.
NFL Week Eight’s Thursday Night Football
NFL Week Eight’s TNF took us to Green Bay, where the 4-3 Packers hosted the 3-3 Carolina Panthers. The Packers had just come off a rough loss against division rivals, the Detroit Lions. Of course, they were looking for a little redemption, and they achieved just that.
In the 27-19, some key players who stood out were Quarterback Jordan Love, Receiver Christian Watson, and Defensive Linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper. Love completed 30 out of his 41 passes with 288 yards and three touchdowns. Watson, during and after his quick trip to the hospital, caught eight out of his ten targets for 113 yards. Hopper tallied eight tackles, one sack, and one interception.
Lions Hunt Down The Vikings
In a NFC North Divisional Showdown, the undefeated Minnesota Vikings took a trip to Detroit, in hope to continue their unbeaten streak.
The Vikings’ defense was working overtime, holding off any touchdowns from the Lions’ offense in the first half. Kicker Jake Bates threw up six points in field goals to keep the Lions in the game. After the half, the Lions came back roaring for a win. Putting up 13 points to Minnesota’s seven, the Lions would go on to defeat the undefeated 19-15.
Prayers go to Detroit’s Linebacker, Jack Campbell, and his family, after an immobile injury occurred. Campbell was taken out of the game on a stretcher and is reported to be staying overnight at a hospital and monitored for a neck injury.

The Chargers Remain Winless
In a home versus home matchup, the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams hosted each other Sunday afternoon. The Chargers, who came off of a bye week, have had intense gazes as to why the team performance isn’t well this season.
Starting off in the first half, Chargers fans had a glimmer of hope that their team could have their first victory by holding the Rams to a one-point lead. However, after a rough third quarter, that light just began to fade. The Rams put up 14 points and went on to beat the Chargers 24-9.
Sports commentators and fans are beginning to wonder, “When will the Los Angeles Chargers get their first win?” Now 0-7, the Chargers’ upcoming schedule has them going against the Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, and New England Patriots this month. Speculation of a win against the Jets will be their first win of the season, which would put them at 1-9. What happened to the team that went 11-6 last season? Is it the players, the staff? You decide.
AFC West Head To Head
The Kansas City Chiefs have fallen to 5-2 after traveling to the Denver Broncos’ stadium for an intense last-second loss. The Broncos’ 28-24 victory came after trailing the Chiefs in the first three quarters of the game. Bo Nix and the team were able to light the burner under their tails and pull out 15 points in the fourth quarter to snag the win.
Although stat-wise, individuals on the Chiefs had better-looking numbers, the Broncos came together as a whole using all of their tools. That is more admirable than seeing and hearing the same person over and over again. I feel like this is more common throughout the teams of the NFL than not.

NFL Week Eight SNF
Another divisional stomping ground game was highlighted during week eight’s Sunday Night Football. The Washington Commanders (1-4-1) hosted the Philadelphia Eagles (2-5), and man, was it brutal. The Commanders, however, looked at this opportunity to strengthen their winning record, and they did just that. The 27-10 triumph over the Eagles has now given them another win and moved them up in the divisional ranking to third, just below the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.
The Eagles have been hurting BIG TIME since Jalen Hurts’ medical leave commenced. I believe it really shows the power and connection that man had with the entire team. It also doesn’t help that Saquon Barkley is playing injured and having to do PT between each play.
NFL Monday Night Week Eight
What better way to close out week eight than a good NFC matchup? Two well-performing teams, the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks, came into this week both 4-2. The Bears would dominate the Seahawks with a 34-17 win.
Caleb Williams and D’Andre Swift had a phenomenal game. Williams, who was injured the first few weeks of the season, has come back even stronger to prove the Bears’ superiority. He completed 24/34 passes and threw for 247 yards and one touchdown. Swift had 27 carries for 69 yards and three touchdowns, as well as two receptions spanning ten yards.
The Bears will go on to play the Buccaneers next Sunday night, and the Seahawks will take on their divisional opponent, the Arizona Cardinals.
The End Of My NFL Week Eight Rant
The NFC North teams are still on top as the highest-ranked division game winners, at 21 wins. This is even more interesting and impressive since they have been squaring off against each other. The AFC North trails by one with 20 wins this season. I think at this point, it’s safe to say the North Side is the superior side.
We approach our fourth round of “Bye” weeks, with the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers taking a break before the Titans face the Jaguars and the Steelers visit the Bengals.
Tune in next week for the NFL Week Nine recap.
