Week Seventeen of the 2024 NFL season is here. As always, I will start by discussing the rules for a survivor pool. It is a weekly contest where people select one team per week, straight up, to win their game.
If a chosen team wins, it advances to the next week, but remember that the selected team can’t be used for the rest of the season. If a team they chose for that week loses, it is eliminated from the pool.
Now that the rules are set, it is time for me to give my top three options: a risky pick, a trap pick, and a survivor pick that I would have made if I were still alive in Survivor. It would have been nice for Cincinnati to prepare for their first regular-season game
If you haven’t used the Buffalo Bills yet, go ahead. What are you waiting for? They’re facing a dysfunctional franchise that is going nowhere, and the Bills are going to try to lock up home-field advantage. Green light, go use them right now and advance to Week 18.
This game is a must-win for Miami if they even want a chance to keep their playoff hopes alive. Luckily the Browns are tanking the season and are going to start Dorian Thompson-Robinson who is not a good quarterback. They should take care of business this week and hopefully can keep their playoff hopes alive.
Anyone who faces the Giants is going to go on the list of survivor choices. No offense to Giants fans and the organization, but this team is the worst in the league and it’s not close. I’m not a fan of the Colts and I still don’t think this franchise has a QB as Richardson has not gotten any better. However, they should take care of business and get the victory against the Giants.
Yes, the Philadelphia Eagles are the much talented team on paper, but this game is super risky for two reasons. The obvious one is that it’s a divisional game and those are very tricky to pick. The second is the unknown of who will be the QB for the Eagles this week. Jalen Hurts suffered a concussion last week and Kenny Pickett is dealing with a rib injury as well.
So, if both are out Tanner McKee will start for the Philadelphia Eagles. Now if I were to predict, I think Kenny Pickett will get the start this week, as I doubt Hurts will play with his concussion. I think the Eagles will hold him out until the playoffs. Philadelphia no matter what should take care of business, but beware of the question mark at QB.

Gosh, this game is straight-up unwatchable. It is a Tank Game in the tournament for a Top 5 Pick in this draft. This is a game that many survivor players are playing due to how awful both teams are and there are limited options at this point. The Raiders care more about winning games than draft capital with Antonio Pierce’s comments last week.
Additionally, the Saints QB room has been a mess since Derek Carr’s injury. A fascinating fact about this game is that in a majority of Survivor pools, the Raiders are being picked more, and they are getting around 1% of Survivor picks in most leagues. However, let’s be honest the Raiders are still awful and have a way worse QB. Also, the Saints are the home team in this matchup. Just avoid picking this game unless you have to.
Trap Survivor Pick History (4-12) – Week 1: Buffalo Bills, Week 2: Indianapolis Colts, Week 3: Seattle Seahawks, Week 4: Philadelphia Eagles, Week 5: Chicago Bears, Week 6: Buffalo Bills, Week 7: Cincinnati Bengals, Week 8: New York Jets, Week 9: Baltimore Ravens, Week 10: Philadelphia Eagles, Week 11: New York Jets, Week 12: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Week 13: Houston Texans Week 14 Cincinnati Bengals, Week 15: Atlanta Falcons, Week 16: Indianapolis Colts
I can’t choose the Buffalo Bills as they were my pick in Week 16. The Philadelphia Eagles also can’t be used as I used them in Week 6. So, this pick came down to the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts. When deciding who to pick, I chose who their opponents are and how terrible they have been. Looking at the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns, the Giants are way worse. The Colts are facing the Giants this week. As a result, I would have taken the Colts this week in Survivor.
