The Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons, and Phoenix Suns are potential landing spots for him. 

Brooklyn could be headed toward a major decision, with Porter Jr.’s future reportedly hinging on extension talks. At just 28 years old, he would instantly become one of the more intriguing names on the trade market if negotiations break down. He averaged 24.2 points per game on 46.3% from the field, 7.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.3 blocks.

The Warriors have gauged their trade interest again in Porter Jr. Reports indicated a deal was nearly completed before the trade deadline involving Porter Jr. and Terance Mann. Golden State reportedly offered a first-round pick, according to HoopsHype Senior NBA Insider Michael Scotto.

Porter Jr’s elite shooting ability would be the perfect fit next to Stephen Curry. Their hypothetical starting lineup could be Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Porter Jr, Draymond Green, and Kristaps Porzingis.

The Pistons are a team worth monitoring for Porter Jr. on the trade market. He was the subject of heavy trade speculation involving Detroit last season.

Porter Jr. is an elite offensive talent with one of the most complete offensive skill sets in the NBA. Porter Jr. has been previously rumored to have interest in Phoenix, but it remains to be seen if the Suns would have any interest, especially after adding Koa Peat and Miles Bridges on better contracts this summer. Former NBA player DeMarcus Cousins had a trade idea of Phoenix giving up Jalen Green for Porter Jr. on Run It Back. Their hypothetical starting lineup could be Devin Booker, Porter Jr., Dillon Brooks, Miles Bridges, and Mark Williams.

Porter Jr. only has one season left on his contract, for $40.8 million. The Nets said no to trading for Jaylen Brown, refusing to deal away Porter Jr. Now they cannot come to a contract with him and might trade him. If Brooklyn ultimately loses Porter Jr. after previously declining major trade opportunities, questions about the organization’s long-term roster management will only grow louder. This should have been handled before the Nets said no to a Brown deal. Michael Porter Jr. trade rumors are expected to intensify throughout the offseason.

If extension talks continue to stall, expect  Porter Jr.’s name to dominate NBA trade rumors throughout the offseason. With the Warriors, Pistons, and Suns all fitting his timeline and skill set, Brooklyn could have multiple trade packages to evaluate before training camp.
