The Los Angeles Lakers have been at the forefront of a majority of NBA rumors this offseason. They have completely revamped their roster after LeBron James announced he would not return to Los Angeles. Could Rob Pelinka have one more move up his sleeve? Recent rumors indicate he may.
Who Is Jonathan Kuminga?

Jonathan Kuminga is a former seventh overall pick in the 2021 draft by the Golden State Warriors. He was consistently praised for his potential and upside with the Warriors, but he was never able to fully reach his ceiling. He averaged more than 15 points a game twice during his tenure in Golden State.
Kuminga was traded to the Atlanta Hawks at the trade deadline last season. He followed a trend that has stuck with him his entire career: inconsistencies. He would have one game with an efficient 20 points, and follow it up with three points.
Kuminga has the talent to be a starting small forward with the right team around him. So far, he just hasn’t found the right fit. That’s what he will prioritize in free agency this offseason. The Lakers make a ton of sense here.
Lakers Outlook With Kuminga

The Lakers have reportedly been targeting Kuminga, offering him a two-year contract worth $20 million. This would be the Lakers’ final major offseason addition as they completely revamped their roster.
Adding Kuminga would give them one of the best and most versatile starting lineups in the league. The depth is nothing to pushover either. Quentin Grimes and Collin Sexton will provide a punch off the bench from the backcourt.
End Of My Los Angeles Lakers Jonathan Kuminga Rant

The Lakers have already made some great moves in free agency, but this would put them in a class of their own. Adding Kuminga to the haul that they’ve already gotten would almost make losing LeBron an afterthought. They have given Doncic a roster that has enough depth to compete with.
