Liverpool are now put under pressure, as they face the danger of losing Luis Diaz soon. The Colombian winger has recently revealed that he is talking to other clubs about his future. This means that a move might happen.
There has been a lot of speculation about Diaz’s future at Liverpool. The winger’s contract is supposed to end in 2027, but no extension has been agreed upon yet.
While there is this uncertainty, it has been reported that Barcelona are interested in Diaz. They are ready to make a deal for the winger if he is planning to leave.
According to Sport Witness, Diaz will only consider leaving the Reds if he receives a deal from Barcelona. While the winger’s club rejected the Spanish side’s approach, Barcelona are “unfazed” and are still after Diaz.
The publication also mentioned that Diaz admitted that he is talking to other clubs. The winger said, “I’m very happy at Liverpool, I’ve always said so. Since I arrived on the first day, they’ve treated me very well. We’re in contact with them because we’re talking to clubs, it’s normal. The transfer market is opening, and we’re trying to arrange whatever is best for us.”
He also made sure to point out that he is now waiting for Liverpool’s decision on whether they will renew his contract or not. The Colombian said, “If Liverpool don’t extend our contract, I still have the two years I have left with them, and I’ll be happy to stay there. Now it’s up to them. I’m here to decide and look at what’s best for us and the future.”
Mundo Deportivo has also revealed what Diaz is planning to do. Their information was reported by Sport Witness who stated that Diaz is “willing to do everything he can” to join Barca.
The interest seems to be mutual, as Barcelona are still after the winger.
Despite Barcelona’s interest in Diaz, the Reds should do their best to keep the winger on their side. During the last season, he managed to score 17 goals which definitely helped them win the Premier League.
Holding on to Diaz now might not be in the club’s favor. He might run down his contract and then they won’t gain any financial benefits from his departure. The Reds are reportedly hoping to receive a big offer that they won’t be able to refuse. This is yet to be seen whether it will happen or not. Barcelona might not be the one to offer a great deal, especially with their current financial situation.
No matter what happens next, any club that will have Diaz with them will definitely be lucky. Whether that would be Liverpool or Barcelona, the winger will prove his worth.
