Kyle Tucker Potentially Signing With The Blue Jays Would Be LETHAL

According to Robert Murray of Fansided, the Toronto Blue Jays have their eyes set on the best free agent in this offseason’s class – Kyle Tucker. Murray reported that Tucker visited Toronto’s spring training facility in Florida on Wednesday; he’s also from the area, as he was born in Tampa as well.

The American League Champion Blue Jays came two outs away from winning the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game Seven. They instantly went into aggressive mode in the offseason by signing Dylan Cease to a seven-year $210 million contract last week.

Toronto is already seen as the best team in the American League, and pairing Tucker with Vladimir Guerrero Jr would be unreal. Theoretically, this would be great Bo Bichette insurance as well, in case he doesn’t come back.

Tucker is the superior hitter between the two, but Bichette is one of the best-hitting infielders in the league and is beloved in Canada. Toronto already had an upper-echelon offense this past season with Guerrero Jr, George Springer, Alejandro Kirk, and Addison Barger, to name a few. Imagine them now with one of the minimum top fifteen hitters in all of Major League Baseball in Tucker.

Hats off to the Blue Jays ownership and front office for keeping their foot on the gas. They had the Dodgers on the ropes up until a Miguel Rojas game-tying home run off Jeff Hoffman.

Toronto has one of the wealthiest ownership groups in the league with Rogers Communications, and they never have trouble with offering mega contracts. They offered huge contracts to Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto, who have the two largest contracts in MLB History, but they both chose other teams. The Blue Jays landed their big-time pitcher in Cease, and they’re coming off a World Series berth, so that makes them even more of a favorable destination.

Tucker is 28 years old and was tied for the 14th-best Weighted Runs Created+ (wRC+, for short) among qualified hitters with a 136 wRC+ this past season. Funny enough, he was slightly behind Guerrero Jr, who had a 137 wRC+.

In a “down” season for Tucker, he was the 15th-best hitter in baseball, even while playing through multiple injuries. He perfectly fits their mold as well since he’s a pure hitter with really good power, paired with the fact that he only had a 14.7% strikeout rate this past season. In the 2025 season, the Blue Jays were tied for 11th with 191 home runs, and yet they still struck out the second least in the league with 1,099 strikeouts.

Toronto is already the best team in the American League, but adding Tucker would anoint them as by far the best team in the AL. The Blue Jays would universally be seen as a top-five team in MLB by many, and why not? They have a really good team; they have even more means after making a ton of money throughout the postseason. Why not continue to reinvest that into the team and make the team that much better after you were so close to winning it all?

This also puts even more pressure on teams who are in the market for an outfielder, like the New York Mets, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia Phillies. Toronto already has a leg up on the rest of the competition; Tucker’s already in their building. They’re probably sweet-talking him, and they can start their conversation off about the Blue Jays’ recent World Series birth. Which is incredibly enticing for a guy who knows nothing but winning being with the Houston Astros for all but one year of his career last season. The Blue Jays can put their money with their mouth is with Tucker as well; talk is not cheap with them whatsoever, and this would be a humongous signing.
