Wednesday night belonged to Kentucky and Otega Oweh. Oweh scored a career-high 28 points and banked in an off-balance floater with six seconds remaining to silence the crowd in his emotional homecoming game back in Oklahoma.

Lamont Butler, Jaxson Robinson Return

It’s been almost three weeks since Butler and Robinson have been able to take the floor for Kentucky due to shoulder and wrist injuries, so it was a welcome sight to see them back.

Some rust was still there for both, and as the season goes on, both need to be healthy for Kentucky to have a chance down the stretch in March. Jaxson Robinson was limited in the second half as he sat on the bench icing his wrist. Let’s hope for the best and for Robinson to return to the lineup.

Brandon Garrison Coming Out Party

Garrison has been the one inconsistent player on this Kentucky team all season long, and tonight we saw glimpses of what he can do when he puts it all together.

His play was huge because early in the game, Amari Williams went down with an ankle injury. He did return, but Garrison scored 12 points, four rebounds, three steals, three blocks, and went 5-8 from the field. He’s a big part of this offense, and it was good to see him come out and play this way on a night they needed him when others were lacking in scoring.

Otega Oweh Legendary Performance

Insane performance. Insane. Otega Oweh finished with a career-high 28 points, a game-winning block, and the game-winning shot. This was an all-timer for the former Oklahoma Sooner coming home to face his former team.

Kentucky scored 21 of their last 23 points thanks to Otega Oweh. There are no words to describe the unbelievable performance except to say it was a “You had to be there” type of moment. From the start, you could tell this game was personal for Oweh, as he continued to be aggressive all the way to the final buzzer.

It was an incredible performance that will go down in his Kentucky basketball lore, one he’ll never forget. Mark Pope basically said, “This is your game, GO take it.” Take it he did and won.

End Of My Kentucky Basketball Rant

Kentucky Otega Oweh

Winning games is fun, especially road games, no matter the opponent. This was another Quad 1 game in the belt for Kentucky, who now has nine. They found a way to gut it out, and that’s exactly what the Cats did on this night.

As they move forward, the question remains: how healthy can they get with Robinson possibly up in the air for Saturday, along with how Butler and Carr are feeling? They’ll need to navigate this stretch of challenging games in the SEC.

With the way Kentucky fights, you can never count them out in any game, especially this one when the Cats trailed by as many as five, and things seemed to be slipping away.

Up next is No. 1 Auburn on Saturday, one of the hottest teams in the country and possibly the best team overall in the sport. Kentucky is at home, and with the crowd behind them, a win like this can rejuvenate a team and get them pumped for a game of this magnitude. Oh, what a win this would be for the Cats to knock off Auburn and finish the season on a high note!

Just win! That’s all Kentucky needs to keep doing because the games will take care of themselves. For one night, in a road game where seemingly nothing has gone right for Kentucky this season, they finally finished the deal. Impressive!
