Kentucky needs Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson to be healthy and ready to make a significant run in March.
Injured Prone Season
It seems Kentucky has had the yips when it comes to injuries all season long. Butler’s shoulder, Robinson’s wrist, Kriisa’s missing since early December with a foot injury, and Carr’s back issues have hampered Kentucky’s chances of having a better overall season than what they’ve already had.
I just want a healthy Kentucky team.

This has been the most frustrating year I’ve ever watched of Kentucky basketball in terms of I know how good we are when healthy, we just can never be healthy.

A fully healthy Kentucky roster and I’m legit not afraid of anyone, just don’t know if we will ever get healthy.
The good thing is if Butler and Robinson return quickly, they’ll return at a crucial time during the stretch run for the SEC tournament and March Madness. There’s no better way to have a healthy team during such a critical period. Along with Perry and Noah gaining experience in their absence, Kentucky will also have added depth to utilize.
Kentucky Boys Stepping Up
Without their star guards, the Wildcats have embraced a next-up mentality, allowing Trent Noah and Travis Perry to gain valuable experience. This has helped the team adapt and allowed these players to step up when needed.
I am a big fan of when guys don’t play scared in tough environments. Travis Perry has played without fear, which I think is a good sign long term

The more valuable minutes they get, the better the chances of utilizing that depth down the stretch in March when Butler and Robinson might need a break.
After gaining experience in high-pressure games against teams like Alabama and Tennessee, they’ll be ready to come off the bench and contribute effectively.
Final Stretch
The Wildcats have only four more games left to figure things out before the real season begins, starting with their matchup against Oklahoma this Wednesday. Given the recent reports regarding Robinson and Butler, they likely won’t play, but there’s still a possibility.
Kentucky needs to secure a victory in this winnable game on their schedule to gain momentum moving forward.
Kentucky returns home on Saturday to face Auburn, followed by LSU, and then they will have their final road game against Missouri. To have a decent chance at securing a bye in the SEC tournament and potentially a top-four seed in March, the Cats need to go at least 2-2 in this stretch. SEC basketball is never easy, and every game will be crucial.
End Of My Rant

As March approaches, Kentucky must get its two best players back. With their return, the team can consider making a strong run and recapturing the form it had back in November—at least, that’s what we’re all hoping for.
This final stretch is crucial, starting Wednesday night on the road against Oklahoma. With the star guards still out, Kentucky will need Perry, Noah, Brea, and everyone else to step up and keep the team afloat until their return. When they come back, we can only hope that the run we envision matches Kentucky’s energy and momentum earlier in the season.
March Madness is one of the most exciting times in sports, but Kentucky basketball hasn’t made much noise during that month in recent years. Let’s hope that the magic returns under Mark Pope and that the Cats can find their spark. It would be great to reignite the passion of the fanbase, which has endured many struggles during this time.
As we witnessed against Alabama, a healthy Andrew Carr is also crucial. With a fully fit Carr, alongside Butler and Robinson, this team has the potential to compete with anyone in the country. During glimpses of Saturday night’s game, we saw the old Andrew Carr in action, and with Butler and Robinson on the cusp of returning, we can imagine the magic that might return if all three are together.
That combination could elevate Kentucky’s performance!
