On Friday night, December 5th, at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, the Kentucky Wildcats fell to the Gonzaga Bulldogs by 35 points. Kentucky appeared completely outmatched in effort and spirit, leaving the question: Can these problems be turned around?
Offense Is Lost
On Tuesday night against the North Carolina Tar Heels, the Wildcats struggled mightily with their shooting, leading to yet another loss, and tonight might have been their worst performance of the season. They managed just 26 percent from the field and 21 percent from beyond the arc, despite getting plenty of open looks that simply wouldn’t drop. This team just isn’t a strong shooting squad, and if things don’t turn around, the losses will keep piling up.
Relentless positivity has led to a $22 million poorly constructed roster that doesn't play hard or respond to coaching, headlined by Collin Chandler, and yes, that is more toxic than Calipari's revolving door of OADs on campus for a few months.

It was an ugly night in Nashville, one that doesn’t seem to be resonating enough, and at the moment, no answers feel within reach.
Jaland Lowe Returns
The one bright spot in tonight’s game was seeing Jaland Lowe back on the court for the first time since facing Louisville in November. He wrapped up the night with 1 point, going 0-for-5 from the field, along with 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 turnover. Overall, he was a non-factor in a game where nothing went right for anyone, aside from the final score margin.
Kentucky point guard Jaland Lowe is expected to give it a go and play tonight against Gonzaga here in Nashville, source told @TheFieldOf68.

Lowe has missed six games with a shoulder injury this season.
HUGE news for Mark Pope and the ‘Cats. https://t.co/0vfd06JvIO
Regarding Jayden Quaintance’s injury, he suited up for the game but didn’t see any action, as he continues to get closer to making his return to the court.
Big Blue Nation Is Roaring
The last thing you want is the crowd turning against you, but tonight at Bridgestone Arena, the boos rang out for everyone to hear. It was obvious that many who showed up weren’t pleased with what unfolded. When you’re trailing by 30 points, it’s no surprise the fans let their frustration be known.
I've never heard more boos in my life. Such a surreal experience.

Fans are over it.
Mark Pope has to sort this out fast because if the results don’t change, the noise is only going to get louder. With the honeymoon period over, it’s a tough spot to be in when the fans start turning on you. Nights like this make you search for positives, but the negatives are front and center, and right now it feels like a downward spiral.
Former Wildcat Demarcus Cousins Speaks Out
Can’t lie…this uk team has no heart! This is hard to watch smh
— DeMarcus Cousins (@boogiecousins) December 6, 2025
A former player from the John Calipari era, DeMarcus Cousins, spoke out tonight on social media, calling out the team. While some agree with his opinion and others are ready to debate it, there’s no denying that at times this season, the effort and passion just haven’t been there. The overall chemistry feels off. Kentucky needs a leader to step up and address the problems head-on.
It’s been a rough night for the Wildcats.
End Of My Kentucky Wildcats Rant

The time is now. This can’t be fixed once SEC play begins, so the Wildcats need to do some soul-searching and find answers fast. With matchups against the Indiana Hoosiers and St. John’s Red Storm coming up, and still no ranked wins this season, things aren’t looking good.
Kentucky returns home Tuesday night to take on the North Carolina Central Eagles, but a win there won’t satisfy the fans. Until the Wildcats beat a team with some real competition, the excitement around this season is going to remain low.
