Mouhamed Dioubate on the move and headed to Kentucky.

Big Impact For Alabama

It was quite the season for Alabama, and one of the standout reasons was the hustle and effort of Mouhamed Dioubate. Averaging 7.2 PPG and 5.9 RPG, he was just a sophomore and poised to be a significant asset in Nate Oats’ program for the next season.

He announced that he was entering the transfer portal, and it was a quick decision; he ultimately chose to play for Mark Pope and UK.

One of the many things the Wildcats lacked this season was physicality and athleticism; they will find that in Dioubate.

His ability to be a disruptive force on the defensive end is a significant asset he brings to his game. This is precisely the player they prioritize in the portal, and his presence will undoubtedly enhance their defensive capabilities moving forward.

Physical Play

At times this season, Kentucky struggled with athleticism and physicality. In his first year, Mark Pope did what he could with transfer pickups to start the program.

One positive is that Kentucky has actively addressed those needs in the portal. They’ve brought Kam Williams from Tulane, a versatile and athletic wing, along with Mouhamed Dioubate, who showcased his talents at Alabama this past season.

These additions should help strengthen the team’s overall performance moving forward.

This is one of those pickups that will definitely enhance Kentucky defensively and help open things up on offense. Against Kentucky this season, Dioubate was impressive—he limited Otega Oweh in one of their matchups.

In the SEC tournament game, he finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, showcasing his ability to be a true difference-maker on the boards and the defensive end. His performance highlights the impact he can have on the team as they move forward.

Trust Mark Pope.

Portal Buzz

Kentucky is continuously active in the transfer portal, and with last year’s additions, Mark Pope is always on the lookout for quality players who fit the team’s needs.

Another name that surfaced this morning is former Kentucky commit Jayden Quaintance, who is now in the transfer portal. He and the Wildcats seem to have mutual interest, which could be an intriguing development as they aim to strengthen their roster.

He was committed last year before Mark Pope arrived in Lexington, initially pledging to John Calipari. When Calipari left, Quaintance entered the portal and eventually found himself out west at Arizona State, playing for Bobby Hurley.

Now that he’s back in the portal, it’ll be interesting to see if he considers a return to Kentucky, especially with the new direction under Pope.

There’s still a lot left in the portal, and Kentucky is after some big names. One player on their radar is Jaron Pierre Jr from Jacksonville State.

His interest has been relatively quiet in the last few days. Once the national championship ends, things will heat up as teams and players reassess their options and scrutinize their rosters. Kentucky could be well-positioned to make some impactful additions.

End Of My Kentucky Rant

With the portal addition of Mouhamed Dioubate, Kentucky has bolstered its backcourt, enhancing the defense and athleticism that were desperately needed after this past season.

More portal additions are anticipated, as Mark Pope seeks players who fit his system. Most expect at least three more additions before the upcoming season begins.

Enjoy the ride and appreciate what Pope is building at Kentucky. As a fan in Big Blue Nation, I’m hard-pressed not to be excited about this program’s positive trajectory.
