Ipswich’s Liam Delap has been performing more than well this season, as he’s scored 12 goals so far. This attracted several Premier League clubs, who are now looking to sign the striker.
Coming from Manchester City for around £20 million, Ipswich were lucky to sign a player like Delap. Now, it is understandable why several clubs are after him.
Chelsea were already interested in the striker, but now Manchester United have entered the conversation as well. According to ESPN, United want Delap. They prioritize signing him over landing Viktor Gyökeres, Benjamin Sesko, and Victor Osimhen.
Manchester United want Ipswich’s man more than ever, as they want to sign a center-forward soon. If Ipswich are relegated, Delap would be allowed to leave for a £40m fee. Both Manchester United and Chelsea will possibly meet this fee.
Manchester United and Chelsea aren’t the only Premier League clubs who might sign Delap. When Ipswich bought the striker from Manchester City, the City included a £40m clause to re-sign Delap in the contract.
City, however, are unlikely to sign him since it would be difficult for him to compete against Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush.
The good thing for Manchester City is that they would benefit if Ipswich sold Delap. His contract includes a 20% exit clause. This means they will receive 20% of any profit Ipswich might make from selling the 22-year-old striker.
Along with Chelsea and Manchester United, TeamTalk reported that Everton is also interested in Delap. If both Armando Broja and Dominic Calvert-Lewin depart the club, Everton will be even more interested in signing the striker.
The report also says that Brighton is after Delap as well. The two clubs have been keeping close tabs on him in recent days.
In addition to all these clubs that are after Ipswich’s striker, Liverpool is also keeping an eye on him. They might want to bring a new striker in, especially if Darwin Nunez was sold.
The club has eyed Delap for a long time now. They join a long list of clubs who are after him. Even Newcastle is interested. It’s obvious just how good Delap is by the number of clubs after him.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that all these clubs are after Delap. He is having a great season despite his club’s struggles. This shows that he has the capability to succeed despite the team’s performance.
From seeing Delap play, he has a lot of qualities that make him a key target for clubs. He can lose the player marking him and create his own chances, which is crucial for several clubs.
There is no doubt that any club would be lucky to sign Delap. If Ipswich were relegated, the striker would surely want to remain in the Premier League. He should, however, take his time to decide which club he wants to join.
While Ipswich’s fans don’t want to see their club leave the Premier League so soon, clubs interested in Delap are probably waiting for their downfall. A deal will become easier then.
