Maxwell Hairston is headed to Buffalo in the first round at 30th overall, on a night Kentucky football made history by selecting him as the first UK defensive back in the first round of the NFL draft.
Maxwell Hairston Praise
His time at Kentucky was well worth the selection. He played 32 games, with 20 starts, and tallied 89 tackles (2.5 for loss), one sack, 10 pass breakups, six interceptions, and three forced fumbles.
He also returned three interceptions for touchdowns, two of which came against Vanderbilt and the other against Ohio.
Hairston was a three-star prospect in the 2021 class out of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and seeing his moment take shape and history pay off for him and Kentucky football is a special moment.
Buffalo Bills Getting A Winner
His explosive hands on the ball and athletic ability set him apart. He had six career interceptions for the Wildcats and started two seasons as well.
Whoever drafted him was getting a lean guy as well. He’s not the most significant player, but his attitude and work ethic are there and can make him a good pro.
Standing at 5’11 “183 pounds, his effort is all there, but he will have bigger receivers to work against in the NFL, and Hairston will like that challenge because he never backed away from it in the SEC.
Mannnnnn they got them UK boys out in Buffalo now 💙🤲🏾 @MHairston22 pic.twitter.com/dRBkrWqUZY

Well done, Maxwell Hairston, and well done, Buffalo Bills.
Emotional Moment
Hairston’s moment when he was picked was one of the best of the NFL Draft. He greeted everybody at his table and ensured that love was shown.
His class, which was portrayed on Thursday night, is what all athletes should strive for. The fact that he greeted all the players who were drafted before him shows how much of a high-character individual and player for the Bills he will be at the next level.
He left a legacy at Lexington and will now join former Kentucky Wildcat Ray Davis. He was the highest-drafted UK DB in school history and the first-ever DB drafted in the first round, which speaks volumes about Hairston’s ability and skill as a player.
His nose for the football and his drive are what’ll stick out the most in those first few practices when he suits up. His ability to ball-hawk and be on the ball is something you love as a coach, and his love for the game is evident as well.
End Of My Maxwell Hairston Rant

This is a big moment for Kentucky football and recruiting in the future. It will give recruits a pitch for later down the road.
A player who was a three-star product is now 30th overall in the NFL Draft, making waves, and will have one of the greatest opportunities to produce at the next level.
Hairston becomes the fourth first-rounder under Stoops, joining Bud Dupree, Josh Allen, and Jamin Davis.
Culture matters when you are drafting, and nobody fits that mold better than Hairston. His happiness tonight showed the person he is and the joy he’s about to shine with.
When it’s all said and done, this will be one of the best picks in quite some time. The moments as an SEC player, seeing his efforts pay off at Kentucky, and now getting to trade his blue for white for a chance to deliver on the NFL’s biggest stage are quite the dream.
Big Blue Nation, enjoy this one. This is a special moment in Kentucky football history, and with the new era of the college football landscape, this could mark a significant shift in attracting recruits who can shine like Maxwell Hairston has achieved.
