One of the top budding stars in this upcoming draft is Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston.
Maxwell Hairston A star In The Making
Hairston, a three-star recruit and the 79th-ranked cornerback in the 2021 recruiting class out of West Bloomfield, Michigan, came to Mark Stoops and the Wildcats with a lot to prove.
He showcased his skills on the field effectively throughout his time with the team. During his time in Lexington, he appeared in 32 games and made 20 starts over three seasons. He recorded 89 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, 16 passes defended, and six interceptions.

The speed of Hairston is what sets him apart from others in the draft, along with his impressive ball-hawking skills. As a two-year starter and captain for Kentucky, his talents are unmatched, making him one of the top cornerbacks in this class. He is definitely poised to shine on the big stage.
Injury Bug Sidelined Him Most Of Last Season
Last season was one of the toughest for Maxwell Hairston, as he was limited to just seven games due to a shoulder injury, yet he still made an impact on the field. One of his standout moments came against Ohio, where he recorded a pick-six interception.
Hairston earned Second-Team All-SEC recognition for the second consecutive year, which is an incredible feat. Additionally, he has three career pick-sixes, tying a Kentucky record.
His ball-hawking ability and reputation for being opportunistic when the ball is in the air have solidified his status as one of the nation’s top cornerbacks.
His feel for the game in the secondary is something that will set him up for success, and whichever team drafts him will be gaining a star in the Michigan product.
Day 2 Steal
The NFL draft is soon approaching, and many names will be thrown around between now and then. However, if you’re looking to get a steal in this draft, look no further than Kentucky’s Maxwell Hairston, known as “Mad Max.”
His ability to press coverage is among the best in this class. With his long arms and keen awareness of where the ball is, he knows exactly when to attack. One of his standout skills is his ability to read the quarterback.
He’s poised to be a high-level contributor to any team that picks him and will be regarded as one of the top cornerbacks in this draft class. With work and dedication, he could develop into a starter and a solid presence in the secondary for an NFL team down the road.

In the article above, it also mentions that he could generate some first-round buzz. Additionally, it’s noted that he had 11 formal interviews with NFL teams, including the Bills, Seahawks, Colts, Buccaneers, Chargers, Raiders, and 49ers. He also recently had a visit with the Commanders.
End Of My Maxwell Hairston Rant

Since Kentucky hired Mark Stoops, he has been successful in getting players to the draft and developing talent. Notable names include Benny Snell Jr., Mike Edwards, Lynn Bowden Jr., Bud Dupree, Wan’Dale Robinson, Will Levis, Ray Davis, and many more.
Maxwell Hairston is on track to become another name added to that list of future pros who will have a successful career.
He will be a solid asset to whichever team picks him up, whether that’s as an early second-round choice or a Day 1 first-round pick.
The last few seasons of watching Hairston play have been special, and the growing buzz is that one of these NFL teams is going to get a steal in what he can do and his impressive traits as a cornerback.
Good luck Maxwell.
