Jayden Daniels could not have started off his playoff career any better. The Washington Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez doinked a game-winning field goal through uprights to beat Buccaneers in Wild Card Round 23-20. Washington has their first playoff win since 2005, also in Tampa.

Commanders dominated the time of possession and took care of the football by not having a single turnover. The Commanders scored on four of their eight possessions and did not punt the ball.

Jayden Daniels Adds To Remarkable Rookie Resume

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was poised and accurate, completing two touchdown passes, including a fourth-quarter game-changer to wide receiver Terry McLaurin. He was impressive in his playoff debut.

With last night’s game-winning field goal, Commanders QB Jayden Daniels has tied Kenny Pickett (Steelers 2022) for the most game-winning drives in a rookie season at four. Daniels also joins just 11 other QBs to win a playoff game in their rookie season.

Daniels is only the 4th rookie in history to ever win a road playoff game as a rookie quarterback. Played in more games in his career where his team has zero punts and zero turnovers than Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, and Patrick Mahomes combined.

Daniels has more postseason victories than the Chargers’ quarterback, Justin Herbert. Daniels is a rookie while Herbert has played five seasons in the league, and he’s just getting started.

End Of My Buccaneers vs Commanders Rant

The Buccaneers defense has been atrocious all year. The Commanders had the ball for 11 minutes longer than the Buccaneers – essentially an entire quarter.

That one fumble, combined with the strategy of eating all the time, combined with the Commanders zero turnovers is what ended up winning that game. The Commanders play the Lions next week, who have a tremendous defense.
