The 38-20 win for the home team is noteworthy, but the injury to New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo was the headline of the game. Week Eight in the NFL schedule featured the 6-1 Philadelphia Eagles hosting the 2-5 New York Giants. This was supposed to be a battle between the defending Super Bowl champions and a young, up-and-coming, gritty squad. One of the young spark plugs to this turned-over offense blew a fuse in a gruesome incident.

What Happened To Skattebo?

With less than nine minutes left in the first half, Skattebo got tangled up in a tackle, resulting in a brutal sight for viewers. CBS Sports reports the injury as a dislocated ankle and that he went to the hospital for further evaluation. The rookie was leading all NFL freshmen after Week Seven with 587 scrimmage yards.

The Loss Of Skattebo

The loss is a massive blow to the talent of the roster and the morale of those around him. Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart was visibly emotional after the incident, watching his good friend and season get carted off the field.

The Giants already lost their only elite wide receiver, Malik Nabers, to injury this season, and they may have lost their RB1, too. Rather than its overall record, the team will likely transition its focus to individual player development, if they hadn’t already done so quietly behind closed doors.

The show must go on, which brings the next man up. Fantasy football managers may take note of an expected increase in usage of running backs Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary.

End Of My Cam Skattebo Rant

The distraught Dart and the lowly Giants are forced to trudge through the rest of the 2025-26 regular season. Fans will get to see the first start of the end of the season, that is, without Nabers and Skattebo, next week, when they host the 5-3 San Francisco 49ers. This is a sad way to end the season for such a young and exciting team.
